I'm Bruno Mota the creator of Relax CMS and I need your help to take the project to bigger grounds. If you don't know Relax, it is a CMS built with the latest technologies that enable a complete visual way of creating a website and its respective content types.
I've worked on Relax for over 6 months full time, but got to a state where I needed to get a part time job to basically live, which slowed down its development speed. With your contributions I'd be able to get back to it full time and even hire more people to help with the project.
Relax has not been released yet, but the beta should be done in around 2 months.
You can check Relax GitHub repo here: https://github.com/relax/relax
And check Relax's staging deployment (unstable) here: http://staging.getrelax.io/admin
Also I'm always seeking for feedback and people interested in talking/contributing to the project, join us on Relax's slack http://slack-relax.herokuapp.com/
Feel free to leave your opinions here as well :)
Cheers!
Saying PostgreSQL is a better fit in terms of performance is a bit controversial in my opinion, there are quite a lot of tests between the two and most say it is the exact opposite https://blog.michaelckennedy.net/2010/04/29/mongodb-vs-sql-s...
Despite that, can't say for a fact that's the case for Relax since I haven't test both on it. Mongo is behaving really well though, our demo instance has been getting a pound lately (dozens of users at a time) and it's running smoothly even though our machine is not really powerful.
Also in terms of scaling, Mongo also has a great solution for horizontal scaling https://docs.mongodb.org/manual/sharding/
Having this said, not entirely against having different database layers supported in Relax. Since we're using GraphQL would be a matter of creating an abstraction when accessing the data on the queries and mutations resolves. Not on our priorities for now but we're always open for contributions :)
We're also redesigning the admin entirely for the beta release https://twitter.com/relaxjs/status/699674354657976320
We'll also have a templates feature which users can use to not start a page from scratch :-)
I've been working on a new lib called Relate, started as some experimentation, ended up scaling to a full lib :)
The concept is simple, a simpler and data agnostic Relay on top of Redux. I think the end result is quite interesting.
Already made some docs for it: http://relax.github.io/relate/
Would love to get some feedback and opinions about it.
Cheers!
Major problem for now is that in some places it still doesn't retrieve data with the right projection, for example when creating a menu it loads all the pages with everything in it. That's why I'm switching to Relay to make this easy pie and more reliable
Relax creator here :)
Read most of comments here and I think there is still a lot users didn't try out on Relax.
Relax is not just a page builder, it provides a way of creating schemas in a graphic ui, and the magic happens when you create a template for that schema and link data to components by drag and drop on the page builder.
Will eventually make some screencasts showing some cool features that past unnoticed at first glance.
Also Relax is modular, developers can create react components that will work perfect with the page builder.
Thanks all for the feedback! Keep it coming!
