brokenparser··on One VM to Rule Them All
They obviously didn't update their website to Java EE 7 then. Why wouldn't they? It's the latest and greatest thing!
brokenparser··on To my daughter's high school programming teacher
VBA is almost universally the wrong tool for the job. MS-Office applications are COM servers, so you can interface with them from almost any programming language and throw useful frameworks into the mix such as Qt or wxWidgets. The sort of things that make a programmers life easier, in stark contrast to the abomination called VBA.

He's upset that men are naturally stronger than women and female orderlies would delegate the heavy lifting to male co-workers as their preferred tool. At least that's what I gathered.

In related news, Oracle still doesn't support HTML5. Back to you, pron.
brokenparser··on Show HN: My Isometric GPU-Powered Voxel Engine
Please change the seizure-inducing flickering background, thanks.
brokenparser··on Anonymous Pro – a fixed-width font designed for coders
Thanks! I switched to Liberation Mono, it's almost as legible as Droid Sans Mono but differentiates the 0 and O.

> it's something anyone who has the potential to influence others' lives should be working on

Especially parents. Ethics should be passed on from generation to generation, religious or not. Somewhere in the past century, the art appears to have been lost. Or it may dilute with each generation, as can be observed in children raised by their grandparents when compared to children of the same age raised by their own parents.

brokenparser··on Intel: [We] will not carry XMir patches upstream.
You have limited yourself to the arbitrary limit of 99 distros before giving up. I'm sure you'll find a good one among the top 99 on distrowatch.com.
brokenparser··on How to foil NSA sabotage: use a dead man's switch
It hinges on "You have the right to remain silent.", if that's no longer true all is lost.
brokenparser··on PhpMyAdmin Turns 15
MySQL Workbench trumps the other tools for managing MySQL, but for quick web access I prefer Adminer. It's easier to set up, appears less cluttered and fast.
brokenparser··on Google speeding up end-to-end crypto between data centers worldwide
Anyone who wants their mail to remain encrypted until it's read by the recipient should use GPG.
brokenparser··on Why You Can’t Travel Back in Time and Kill Hitler
Not sure if my attempted humour is that bad, or so advanced it wooshed straight over your heads.
brokenparser··on Why You Can’t Travel Back in Time and Kill Hitler
The true reason is probably much simpler than any of those considering war has a profound impact wherever it strikes. WW1&2 were triggered by a long chain of events and itself sparked another chain of ongoing events, affecting great many lives dead or not (including myself). If it all possible, you may have to mate with an ancestor to get your own life back.
brokenparser··on Why You Can’t Travel Back in Time and Kill Hitler
Evidence suggests Chuck Norris didn't manage to kill Hitler.
brokenparser··on John Gilmore: NSA obstructed development of IPSEC Crypto in Linux Kernel
Of course not, your logic system is inverted. Charlie intercepting communications is exactly why Alice and Bob should employ end-to-end encryption.
brokenparser··on Intel: [We] will not carry XMir patches upstream.
So? Fork the driver, it's open source.
brokenparser··on Nginx Is Taking Over the Internet
Misleading title. The Internet doesn't depend on any given web server at all, the web is nought but one of many applications.
brokenparser··on PayPal releases Mailpile’s $45,000 (updated)

brokenparser··on Open Source Mailing List Applet Using the Mailgun PHP SDK
GitHub link is a 404. It would be nice for an open source project to use a public repository, just my 2¢.
brokenparser··on Node.js security advisories
That's brilliant, but the search operates on titles, the /package/:name route appears to be broken and there's no RSS. I give up.
brokenparser··on An Android-x86 powered Gaming Console
I'd like to see how you'd do just that. Show me a cheap quad-core PoE box running Scientific Linux with at least the same level of performance. Never mind Android, I need something that runs Eclipse and the emulator reasonably well. 3D performance isn't that important, if it runs AlienArena, Nexuiz and Sauerbraten it's good enough.
brokenparser··on How to be a programmer
Notice the lack of "brains" in that diagram.

Yup, nailed it.

brokenparser··on Microsoft Wins Trial on Google’s Patent Licensing Tactics

Not quite 700M, calling BS.

brokenparser··on What Second Life got right, and no one else has since
They created the perfect environment for furries to play out their fantasies, that's pretty much all that's there. Furries and flying dicks.

brokenparser··on Ministry of Sound sues Spotify for copyright infringement
Does this mean that at some point the calculation of pi digits is halted because they construe a form of copyright infringement?
