brokenparser··on Show HN: I just released Requests for PHP 1.6
Thanks, I thought it was just me.
brokenparser··on How to Corrupt an SQLite Database File
It wouldn't be in contrast to anything. Destroying a guided missile is probably an act of self defence, hence likely to be considered good by the author.
brokenparser··on Ubuntu pre-installed and in retail worldwide
It was running Wordpress on Ubuntu. I wonder why Mark isn't using one of Cloudflare, Varnish or even a simple caching plugin.
brokenparser··on HTML5 Flash Player (Shumway) lands in Mozilla
Boy, am I glad these bugs were fixed around the time I wrote my publishers. Remind me to check all the relevant bug trackers before going full steam ahead with a rewrite, ha ha.
brokenparser··on HTML5 Flash Player (Shumway) lands in Mozilla
Okay, but playback problems don't negate the ability to record or stream input devices.
brokenparser··on HTML5 Flash Player (Shumway) lands in Mozilla
Calling shenanigans. I wrote a couple of fairly complex publishers and Chrome isn't the problematic browser (if you use ExtermalInterface correctly). It's Safari which doesn't handle plugins well, but Camera and Microphone devices should still work as Flash handles those by itself.

This might be the empire game envisioned by Stallman, but it's not a GNU project: http://www.wolfpackempire.com/
brokenparser··on GNU APL 1.0
Back in 2004, trying to compile C++ with g++ was like trying to skin a cat with a toothpick. It just gets really tedious after a while.
brokenparser··on Nvidia seeks peace with Linux, pledges help on open source driver
Valve is one company which has been developing a distro internally. nVidia is another company which has been working on polishing up some documents in order to release them on their FTP site. Yesterday, both companies stepped forward and announced what they've been up to lately. Neither of them have noted any relevancy at all to each others developments and (as an outsider) it seems unreasonable to speculate on such based on timing alone. SteamOS is unlikely to ever use nouveau and nVidia is even more unlikely to consider SteamOS as a reason to release documents for nouveau. Many more projects are ongoing all over the world and any two of them could at some point make announcements on the same day.
brokenparser··on Experts consider consequences of ‘leap second’ elimination
And for enum lookups, e.g. +1-555-5678 becomes 8.7.6.5.5.5.5.1.e164.arpa.
brokenparser··on Clang game project has run out of money
It's even worse than that, I cite:

Kickstarter is amazing, but one of the hidden catches is that once you have taken a bunch of people's money to do a thing, you have to actually do that thing

You don't say.

brokenparser··on I Am An Object Of Internet Ridicule, Ask Me Anything
Please turn off your computer, go outside, and have some fresh air. Your health is important to me regardless of how often you create a new account just to pull an XKCD 386 with foul language.
brokenparser··on I Am An Object Of Internet Ridicule, Ask Me Anything
No. Think prism to the 8th power or more. Yes!

brokenparser··on Voyager 1 has been traveling for about a year through plasma between stars
But I'm pretty sure it runs some kind of transmission.
brokenparser··on Asus' Transformer Book T100
The netbook of 6 years ago had an ethernet port and ran Linux out of the box. Feature parity has not been achieved by later models, if this is reimagining things they're imagining with a case of Alzheimer's.
brokenparser··on Useless Use of Cat Award
Fuck Google for the link rot, everything that points to Deja News is now useless. When will they start remembering their own corporate motto?
brokenparser··on Eloquent JavaScript, Second Edition
Try Firefox, my box is newer.
brokenparser··on Eloquent JavaScript, Second Edition
That works, clicking "animation" restores Firefox back to normal. What's weird though, is that the usual slow script warning doesn't work here. That shouldn't happen and might be a regression. And no to both, although it's probably slower than yours. Even with 170x140 and the main div removed (responsive design view), it won't animate.
brokenparser··on Eloquent JavaScript, Second Edition
I can barely scroll with the animation turned off, on a 2.8GHz CPU (it only returns to normal when reloading the page with js disabled). It's times like this when I really appreciate NoScript, but the pledge link only appears with js enabled. The fancy background could be hurting you in the pocket.
brokenparser··on Eloquent JavaScript, Second Edition
It completely trashes Firefox here, not exactly a compelling argument for a site like this.
brokenparser··on I'm 2 years into development of my sandbox game, Moonman
Moonman is Minecraft 2D? I'm okay with this.
brokenparser··on The ﹤main﹥ element
I'm still waiting for some sort of <bull> or <hogwash> element to markup comments and other such tripe. E.g.:

  <user class="spam">Buy my pills!</user>
It would be even more useful if something like this works:

  <user rel="nofollow">Buy pills
    <a href="fizz://example.net/pills">here!</a>
  </user>
This is cleaner than putting the attribute on every anchor, I wouldn't mind crawlers skipping marked comment sections entirely either.
