broast··on AI-powered Bing Chat spills its secrets via prompt injection attack
String search would be a good fall back but I think the AI can handle it too:

Hey chatgpt, here's my list of secrets: xxx, yyy, zzz

Does the following text contain any variations of my secrets? <previous chat output here>

Please respond with TRUE if the text above does contain any variations of my secrets, and FALSE if not.

broast··on Bing AI can't be trusted
I'm surprised you haven't been able to leverage the AI for the analysis of a problem domain and constraints in order to engineer a novel solution. This is generally what I use it for, and not actual code generation.
broast··on The AI Bubble of 2023
The value of text completion goes far beyond chat interfaces. LLM's are computers.
broast··on Tell HN: DEI initiatives undermine the self esteem of PoC within a company
I think part of DEI is to compensate for currently existing racial prejudices that are unknowingly disadvantaging your probability of hire. What you see as an advantage gained by DEI might actually just be the equalizer that brings you to equal footing with others
broast··on ChatGPT: The Slickest Con Artist of All Time
That's what I like to use it for. To come up with plausible answers for questions that people don't have correct answers for yet, and then probe the reasons behind it. It can be very creative and insightful in such uses.
broast··on The unequal treatment of demographic groups by ChatGPT/OpenAI content moderation
I think it is because one is a historically disadvantaged minority group and the other is not.
broast··on ChatGPT Plus
Use the playground. Why would you use the chat interface for text generation? It is for questions and answers. Use the model directly on the playground for your purpose, and you won't hit such filters .
broast··on CNET's AI journalist appears to have committed extensive plagiarism
Hey that's how I work too!
broast··on “Copycat” layoffs won’t help tech companies or their employees
Do we have any evidence that the over-hiring was a mistake? Could companies not have seen the free money and decided to beef up their staff for short term gains in their roadmap, with the knowledge and intention that they will likely be cutting later while getting to keep all that intellectual output? I don't see why we put this past them.
broast··on Letter to Sundar Pichai from TCI Fund Management [pdf]
The actual technical recession that started in Summer 2022 and then ended the next quarter could still have lingering effects, couldn't it?
broast··on AI is in danger of being swallowed up by copyright law
It seems inevitable then that we soon will have various large models in competition, with differently sourced legally licensed large training datasets. And opt-in open-source ones. And they will one day all hopefully be as good or better than the current models are now.
broast··on ChatGPT is not all you need. A SOTA Review of large Generative AI models
As a user of both, I tend to prefer the playground for most productive uses. I think chatgpt is a very specific use-case of language models that's mostly just for fun, and Google searches- but even for that the playground gives you greater control.
broast··on Plant-based meat is turning out to be a flop
In my experience it is the opposite, being that I only practice veganism every other day, I'm always looking forward to my vegan days for the variety of whole veggies and beans and grains I "have" to eat on those days. Always satisfying.
broast··on Plant-based meat is turning out to be a flop
In my experience, usually the ingredients in fake burger meat are mostly recognizable nutritious plants, at least in the stuff I buy.
broast··on Plant-based meat is turning out to be a flop
No, the impossible burgers come well salted and seasoned to hide the fakeness. I don't salt mine.
broast··on Create optimal conditions for lucky things to happen to you (2020)
Seems possible that every individual could have similar enough capabilities if they had enough luck to overcome any disadvantage.
broast··on ChatGPT Can't Kill Anything Worth Preserving
I experienced this with older shows on Amazon
broast··on What happens when a CPU starts
Amazing to see that tripod sites are still around.
broast··on Wolfram Alpha and ChatGPT
Interestingly for the generated text you're replying to, the prompt directs for the word "fuckin", but the output also includes "cocksuckers", so it seems to have just needed a judge in that direction
broast··on Shorting Tether
People similarly argue that stocks are a pyramid scheme but that doesn't stop them from existing.
broast··on Shorting Tether
Is there currently new and previously not knowable information regarding its utility compared to when the price was going up?
broast··on Seattle Public Schools sues TikTok, YouTube, Instagram over youth mental health
It seems inevitable we will have to adapt to the new normal expected dopamine frequency
broast··on Cybiko
This was my first big purchase in life, when I was 12. When i brought it to school, I would discover the 2 other students who also had a cybiko through its wireless network, and chat and play games with them. It was really cool and a special club to be in.

broast··on Who knew the first AI battles would be fought by artists?
I'm both a digital artist and programmer. I never thought it would happen before, but I accept that this technology can easily replace some aspects of my professional value. But i don't let it take away from my experience and capacity to be creative, so I still think I have an advantage when leveraging these tools- and I've started to use them every day.

Rendering was only ever a small part of the visual arts process anyway. And you can still manually add pixel perfect details to these images by hand that you wouldn't know how to create an AI prompt for. And further, you can mash together AI outputs in beautifully unique and highly controlled ways to produce original compositions that still take work to reproduce.

To me, these AI's are just a tool for increased speed, like copy and paste.

broast··on Artificial intelligence is permeating business at last
If you force it into a novel situation and give it some nudges, you can get a novel response
broast··on Show HN: Whole Git repo was made with ChatGPT
I personally do. I don't really find it meaningful when people show a simple buggy output. Show me a hundred iterations of you intending on helping it achieve the correct output on the same question. Even if it doesn't learn as fast as a human your age, doesn't mean it's not learning the same underlying patterns that we apply for our own abstract understanding. I haven't been shown any evidence that human understanding is different than this other than humans are much more refined with more dedicated components
broast··on Building an interpreter for my programming language with ChatGPT
I have found if you first feed it some examples of correct arithmetic, it comes out with more accurate results for some reason.
broast··on How can you not be romantic about programming? (2020)
What you just described is what I consider the fun part
broast··on Computer proof ‘blows up’ centuries-old fluid equations
As far as rejecting perceptions i think going straight to solipsism is a big jump. We may live in a reality that we have no access to. Donald Hoffman's theories in this area are fun.
