brianfryer··on Groundwork - A Responsive HTML5, CSS and JavaScript Framework
I totally agree. That's why I use these:

* Bourbon: A mixin library for Sass (http://bourbon.io/docs/) * Neat: A semantic grid framework built on top of Sass and Bourbon (http://neat.bourbon.io/)

And for the LESS junkies out there: * LESS Elements: Mixins library for LESS (http://lesselements.com/) * Semantic.gs: Semantic CSS grid system for LESS (http://semantic.gs/)

> What I'd find really useful would be a framework thats entirely built from mixins/partials and outputs no css until you create your own classes that use them.

Here's exactly what you're looking for:

* Bourbon: A mixin library for Sass (http://bourbon.io/docs/) * Neat: A semantic grid framework built on top of Sass and Bourbon (http://neat.bourbon.io/)

And, if you use LESS, you have these options:

* LESS Elements: Mixins library for LESS (http://lesselements.com/) * Semantic.gs: Semantic CSS grid system for LESS (http://semantic.gs/)

I use a CSS grid framework called Neat (built on top of a Sass mixin library called Bourbon) to do exactly this. Keeps my markup semantic, and is very easy to implement.

Plus, Bourbon has an amazing selection of Sass mixins and functions that make building stylesheets a joy.

I couldn't imagine developing withouteother anymore :)

Same. Tried viewing this on my Nexus 10 a little bit ago, and found it nearly unusable.

Have you checked out www.scrolldit.com?
brianfryer··on Punchfork acquired by Pinterest
A huge congratulations to the founders! Getting acquired can be a great thing.

While I'm sad to see the site go the way of the dodo, I'm very excited to see what sorts of things you'll bring to Pinterest. Perhaps I'll have an excuse to actually use their service yet...

Cheers, and good luck!

Thanks, devcpp. This is exactly what I meant.

> Visually pretty, but the grid is completely non-functional

Came here to say this. "Eye candy" != easy to use.

I'd like to see screenshots of ^ that, if you are able to get your hands on them, please.

Thanks; should've read the comments first.

What a FANTASTIC idea! I'd like to discover other movies of similar genre

brianfryer··on Startup founders reveal their #1 user acquisition tactic
Great point. B2B marketing can often be very different from B2C marketing.
brianfryer··on The Code Side Of Color
Colour Lovers is great for picking palettes, but TERRIBLE for mixing colors together.

Thanks. Sorry you didn't find the article interesting.

I never thought I'd be down voted for havi g the opinion that something was great.

You are a SHINING example of why HN comments are such awful places these days.

brianfryer··on The Code Side Of Color
Excellent read. I've been interested in developing some sort of tool to help me select, save, and organize colors for custom palettes.

This will definitely help -- thanks!

> Frankly, if it were free, I probably wouldn't bother to watch it

Excellent point! I feel the same way about most free Internet-busines videos. Plus, I'm much more inclined to listen to, and take action on, advice from trustworthy sources. By contributing so much to HN, Patrick has built up a tremendous amount of trust.

brianfryer··on Patio11 launches his lifecycle emails course
I worked with Patio11 on the WP Engine project his info product revolves around, and know very well the caliber of his character (especially when it comes to helping startups).

Knowing that, This comment is the funniest thing I've read all day. I SRS LOL'd.

brianfryer··on Does Adobe finally understand developers?
Great article highlighting some of Adobe's new web-related products.

I especially excited about Edge Animate! My little brother (who majoring in Animation) asked me, "If Flash is dying on the Internet, what will people use to create animations?" I didn't quite know how to answer that question a few months ago -- it seemed to me that Flash the application was more accessible than writing dozens, and dozens of lines of code to produce sub-par animations.

Yay for Adobe getting into this space, and for charging a subscription fee rather than a huge, up-front price (I believe this will substantially lower the amount of pirated software, too).

Could you add in a filter for "not animation"?

Yikes! Looks like I'll take Mopac into downtown today.

Hope the threat doesn't amount to anything...

brianfryer··on Show HN: We got tired of asking 'What browser are you using?' and created this
Great tool! I can definitely see myself using this :-)

I viewed the site with Chrome for iOS (on an iPad 2), and it detected "Safari on OS/2". Is that correct?

Perhaps a toggle of some sort?

Come take a tour of Capital Factory when you come over to checkout the scene. There'll be plenty of people to answer any questions you have about the area (and hopefully persuade you to move here!).
brianfryer··on How Google Builds Its Maps
Totally agree. Would also add Chrome to the list of "most appreciated Google products".

We definitely need more places like this. I'm really loving that Austin tech scene is holding to this mantra :)

On iOS, it hovers over some of the content :-(

I was just talking about mobile ads yesterday saying they feel like they're designed to trick me into clicking them.

This article confirms my suspicions :-/

1) If you aren't going to be sincere, don't apologize.

2) If your expectations aren't being met, ask for what is missing. Don't come out as an antagonist belittling the author.

Thatnk you for your consideration.
