brayton··on Not everyone in Y Combinator's latest batch could fundraise
Full tweet:

"Not everyone in @ycombinator's latest batch could fundraise.

I was fortunate enough to invest in @coinbase @Amplitude_HQ & @benchling when none of them could raise their full seed rounds after YC.

@BoostVC is looking to write 2 $500k checks into YC companies from the last batch." - @AdamDraper

Takes a village. Thanks for being a part of ours!
brayton··on Boost VC closes $40M fund as revamped ‘sci-fi’ accelerator
Or the easiest way. We are only a team of 5 :)

That picture is our team with Tribe 13!

brayton··on Boost VC closes $40M fund as revamped ‘sci-fi’ accelerator
We didn't choose the title :) "Boost VC closes $40M fund to continue the same Sci-Fi accelerator for the last 7 years" doesn't have the same appeal.

Revamp: We have been a Sci-Fi accelerator for awhile. But new terms are $500k for 15%.

Sci-Fi: What do you imagine the future to be? Current Tribe 13 include crypto, VR, quantum & biotech.

Sci-Fi - Whatever you imagine that to be

brayton··on DigitalOcean lost our server
They had to make space for the YC portfolio companies getting $250k of credits ;)

What are you looking for in block chain / bitcoin applications?
brayton··on My favorite interview question
Are we making an assumption that the candidate doesn't just say what I want to hear? Reminds me of economics class - "Ok class, before we begin you must first go forward with the assumption all people make rational decisions."
brayton··on Bitcoin Is Officially a Commodity, According to U.S. Regulator
So far we have gotten Bitcoin classified:

* CFTC: Commodity * IRS: Property * Judge: Currency * SEC: Security * TSA: Cash

One step closer to world domination.

brayton··on The Moral Argument for Doping in Sports
The main issue I see is how do we allow adults to dope while keeping children/teens away from it? Or would doping even increase with children/teens if it were more widely acceptable amongst adults? When I was in high school there were plenty of athletes using steroids - so already happening. Although I do believe that number would increase especially within high schools.
brayton··on It’s probably a myth that we’re sleeping less than we used to
> "Though a tiny fraction of people can get away with much less."

Why is that?

brayton··on Safe from what?
With today's clickbait I would have thought they would have gone with "Baby monitors kill" or "Children attacked by baby monitors".
brayton··on How Pocket Hit 20M Users with 20 People
> "If save-for-later service Pocket had a spirit animal, it’d be the American field ant."

We need an ongoing list of startups and their spirit animals. How else will I know what products to use.

brayton··on The Virtual Reality of John Carmack

Power move

brayton··on Applications for YC Winter 2016 are now open
Found it interesting that even before people apply they need to mention "Only founders can come to interviews if invited or attend batch events if accepted." I can imagine YC has had a ton of problems with everyone wanting to see their speakers. Or maybe Quora decided to bring their whole company to every YC event.

brayton··on YC Stats
YCF is an awesome move guys. Stays true to the funding of a good team/idea philosophy YC began with.
brayton··on YC Stats
What does it mean by saying "got their start with us"? I believe many companies have been around for awhile before YC. Many already with revenue, traction and funds raised (although this might be the exception to the rule?).

brayton··on Will Your Hardware Startup Make Money?

brayton··on Why China's Economy Is OK but China's Government Is Not
I think 'OK' is being used very loosely. And I believe a bad government will help lead to a bad economy (although some may debate that with a government closer to home)
brayton··on A 15-year-old weightlifting prodigy
But the mods have decided you need to know about this.
brayton··on Having Won Over VCs, Y Combinator Turns to LPs
Some already skip the VCs. But a good VC should not be brushed aside lightly - especially some with certain domain expertise. The best VC firms generate great returns fund after fund. Although, if you can't get into one of these prestigious funds, you might find it more advantageous to invest alongside them if possible, thus not investing in a lower tier fund.
brayton··on Satoshi Nakamoto moves his 6.5 yr old bitcoins
Sounds about right
brayton··on [dead]
Many people believed Satoshi's 1M coins were lost or inaccessible. Now with the possibility of these coins being available - this could have big implications. Will be fun to follow these coins. I hope someone makes a Santa Tracker for Satoshi!
brayton··on I am Mt. Gox's first employee – AMA
What was the company culture like? We hear about a lot of bad but obviously there had to be some good things going on to work there.
