bradhilton··on NTIA Solicits Comments on Open-Weight AI Models
I just emailed their public affairs office to get the details.
bradhilton··on Polars
I use polars, but I've also run into this problem with copilot.
bradhilton··on DALL·E 3 is now available in ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise
I'm guessing their dev conference in November.
bradhilton··on DALL·E 3 is now available in ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise
I think they may release (or at least announce at timeline for) API access at their dev conference in November.
bradhilton··on Prophetic Perfect Tense
The Book of Mormon may also have examples of prophetic perfect tense:

bradhilton··on Keras Core: Keras for TensorFlow, Jax, and PyTorch
Just want to say I love Keras. Thank you for your work!
bradhilton··on Amazon announces 'Bedrock' AI platform to take on OpenAI
I just read somewhere today that their new code completion tool, CodeWhisperer, is better at Amazon APIs than GitHub Copilot (makes sense).
bradhilton··on Launch HN: Pynecone (YC W23) – Web Apps in Pure Python
I think they struck the right balance. Pages are declarative functions much like React and they only appear to use classes for state or component wrappers.
bradhilton··on Launch HN: Vellum (YC W23) – Dev Platform for LLM Apps
Cool, I just requested early access! I have been using Open AI's APIs for text summarization tasks, have also played around with a few other platforms.
bradhilton··on Tell HN: I got my first macOS app accepted to the App Store
Congratulations on getting your app accepted! My Apple development experience is primarily with iOS, but I will probably be playing with macOS more in the future.
bradhilton··on Show HN: I trained an AI model on 120M+ songs from iTunes
Very cool, just tried it out and seems to work. Great job
bradhilton··on Swift Project in 2023
Glad to see they are still working on differentiable Swift.
bradhilton··on Show HN: Reflame – Deploy your React web apps in milliseconds
Very cool, I may use this for my next React project :)
bradhilton··on AI-powered communication coach
Check out the Hemingway Editor: https://hemingwayapp.com
bradhilton··on AutoML Solutions: What I Like and Don’t Like About AutoML as a Data Scientist
I’ve used AutoKeras (one of the frameworks he mentions in the article) and as a machine learning amateur it was super helpful. It still has taken a lot of work to optimize for my use case, but it was nice to get decent results nearly “out-of-the-box.”
bradhilton··on Ask HN: Free for a month. What to do?
Are you wanting to do something productive or do you want to relax and enjoy your free time off?
bradhilton··on Backsliding on free expression around the world needs to end
> The level of democracy enjoyed by the average citizen around the world in 2021 has regressed to 1989 levels

Sounds ominously like the iron curtain is falling back into place, this time more dispersed, not just concentrated in the Soviet bloc.

> 70 percent of the global population lives under dictatorships, according to VDem’s data. That’s a rise of 20 percent over the past decade.

That's pretty disconcerting. Without knowing more about their methodology I'm not sure how this compares to the Cold War era, but it is worrisome to say the least.

bradhilton··on What would a “good” WebMD look like?
Thanks for sharing examine.com, looks interesting!
bradhilton··on More content by people, for people in Search
NICE! I like it, thanks for sharing!
bradhilton··on More content by people, for people in Search
For medical advice I would see more serious articles/blog posts in search results and fewer listicles.

For meal recipes I would just like to see the recipe and not a blog post with dozens of ads.

For programming questions I don't want to see the sites that just scrape and repackage stackoverflow questions; for a company run by software developers they have to know about this problem lol.

bradhilton··on Ask HN: I'm disabled and out of money. Now what?
That sounds like a really difficult situation. What sort of jobs would you be interested in? What do you think are your relative strengths & skills?
bradhilton··on Launch HN: Realize (YC W22) – Integrate brokerage accounts into your site or app
I'd LOVE to use this, but seems legally dubious. I'd love to see some written approval from Robinhood and Webull. Seems like an obvious solution, there must be a reason it hasn't been done before...
bradhilton··on The history of the end of poverty has just begun
I read that as saying that even if we adopt climate change measures necessary for their 'Sustainability Scenario', that will invariably hamper economic growth, the IPCC still believes we will achieve more than a five-fold increase of the global economy this century.
bradhilton··on Ask HN: Which tech stack is the most fun?
My super subjective answer is SwiftUI. Obviously only applicable to iOS apps, but that's the most fun for me at present.
bradhilton··on Next.js 11
I also really like instantdomainsearch.com. I don't have any specific feedback, but thank you for your team's work!
bradhilton··on Launch HN: Taloflow (YC W21) – Find the top cloud or dev tools for your use case
I just tried out the tool for Object Storage and was pleasantly surprised with the resulting experience. I really like this; great work!
bradhilton··on Ask HN: Team fun event ideas during WFH?
Not a super creative, fun "event" per-se, but we have weekly virtual team lunches on Monday where the company orders everyone doordash and we hop on a zoom call to eat and chat. YMMV
bradhilton··on Ask HN: Were you happy moving your API from REST to GraphQL?
Yes, our team has migrated to GraphQL and it has been great, both on the front and backend.

We have a Django app on the backend and have used Django REST Framework for our REST API. That was a great experience, but had some limitations. We've written our new GraphQL API with the help of Graphene and it has been awesome. Everything is very declarative and exploring the API schema couldn't be easier using GraphiQL.

Implementing it on the frontend has been great too. Yes, you do have to specify what fields you want, but having complete control is worth the extra boilerplate. I'd recommend it heartily.
