It seems like a huge step for me, I don’t understand why it’s not more popular on HN.
A question for the author: this is a really cool demo, but I can’t see where is the innovation which needs protection here? A parallax effect when the user scrolls? 3D on a Web page? The “Next Generation Internet” concept?

I have no solution to propose, but the timing seems to be the most important factor for HN submissions, as we already know [1][2][3], and I think these small hacks are acceptable to work around the problem: reposts are not a big source of pollution, and users can report abusive behaviors with the flag button.

WhatWG HTML is the living standard, and the HTML5 (W3C) spec. is like a snapshot.
I think a good example could be Frozen Synapse. Not the first [1], but he has fixed some of the listed flaws [2].
