The worst part for me is this he said in kickstarter:
"These moves also allow us to ensure Console OS will always be free, via GitHub. When we sell Console OS, we plan to commit most revenue right back into open-source development. And sales of Console OS will not be in place of our GitHub distribution - it will be right alongside them."
So he might sell a fork? Wow, well that's silly.
I would add the Get invite textfield on the middle of the botton part, and use the upper part to show a bit of a more graphic explanation of your page purpose. The font is a bit too small IMO, it makes me not want to read anything. It looks great on mobile, desktop needs some tweaks and you are done. Seems like a great idea though :)
Hey! I just want to share an experience, hope it helps. I am a mechatronics engineer who got into a software company in my last year. I did it for the experience, I didn't even know JS, just C++ and some java. They thrown me into front end develpment in a framework I didn't even know it existed. Some hard months came through. Some people where nice and humble, some well selfish and didn't bother to explain anything.
So I kept on learning, started with JS, Html and CSS. I downloaded books and videos, read a lot of blogs (I got to know HN there and I am a user since), got into the world of develpment, started to ask questions on StackO, trying to answer some.
Latter got into Angular, ExtJs, mongo and many other stuff, I am glad I got in in the first place, the fact that I didn't know anything and that I felt I didn't belong made me study harder.
Nowadays I work there part time, got my first big project and some customer for it, and I am in charge in the whore software part. I got to realize that the software industry is a wide wide field, just look for something you feel confortable at and give your best.
There is always news things to learn, that is why I love software develpment :)
The user is left handed. As if there weren't enough left handed products websites should be too. Login/logout on the right side? Talk about equality.
(It is a joke)
This is such good news!!!!! I wanted to do something for VR and since I am just one dev things seemed hard doing things the native way. This just made my day.
DigitalOcean is awesome for both side projects and complex ones, let us not forget OpenShift (redhat), heroku (it is free :D) and linode that has support for Tor.
But DO is awesome for starters. For registrar I suggest NameCheap, I have used Godaddy and I am sad I did.
AWS is beautifully awesome for high scalable projects.
This is awesome! "undefined is not a function" was one big problem for me when I started cleaning up code, and didn't know what caused the issue, I spend a lot of time debugging.
Good read man! I made me consider to start an app with an idea I had for a while. Can you go a bit more technical and talk about the technologies you used? (besides git of course xD)
