boyka··on Tesla takes on $30B in credit as it approaches unprofitability
Invest the $30B into AI build-out with a company called SpaceX, nice. SpaceX invests some more Cybertrucks, nice.
boyka··on New airliner sets record flying 24 hrs nonstop from Australia to France
> The flight from Melbourne back to Toulouse covered 12,460 nautical miles in total, according to Airbus.

> To handle such ultra long-range flights, Airbus describes the aircraft as being equipped with an extra rear center fuel tank capable of carrying 20,900 liters (5,521 gallons). That extends the aircraft range by 1,000 nautical miles to ensure it can cover the nearly 10,000 nautical miles for the nonstop flights between Sydney and either London or New York.

How did they bridge the gap of 2460 nautical miles?

boyka··on Ask HN: What is the job market like?
No, he's in Switzerland. Unexpectedly, I must say, as many big tech including AI labs are expanding here
boyka··on AI is going to kill app subscriptions
As if „deploying“ your app to your iPhone was free…
boyka··on How Google Maps allocates survival across London's restaurants
Someone chose to ignore Google Maps terms and publicly blog about it
boyka··on Shiller PE Ratio
These are just 2, what happened to all the other 1999 tech companies?
boyka··on Shiller PE Ratio
Because of the implication that markets are moved by amateurs and their hope?
boyka··on Gemini 2.5 Flash Image
> When we first launched native image generation in Gemini 2.0 Flash earlier this year, you told us you loved its low latency, cost-effectiveness, and ease of use.

I wasn't aware there is a channel where Google asks for feedback or where you are able to tell them that you love it. I only see a "report a problem button". Which channel is it?

boyka··on The “Frankfurt Kitchen”
Frankfurt kitchen without a shower?
boyka··on OpenAI dropped the price of o3 by 80%
80%? So this is either same Trump style "art of the deal" with setting unreasonable pricing in the first place or desperately needing customers?
boyka··on Show HN: Nue – Apps lighter than a React button
Regarding Rust, are we talking about a Rust backend with RPC/REST or is it simply WebAssembly compiled from Rust? If the latter, how is the data synced for CRUD?
boyka··on Google is publishing the home addresses of developers without their consent
I'd say lawyer up, but then this is goliath..
boyka··on Rust, C++, and Python trends in jobs on Hacker News (February 2025)
Absolute numbers are on a downward trend. But how about relative interest as a percentage of total?
boyka··on Promising results from DeepSeek R1 for code
I see a lot of "what did I tell you, look here, bad communist party product". But in reality most likely this startup isn't doing it out of malice. It's just one of many criteria that need to be met to do business in China. This does not lessen the achievement.
boyka··on [dead]
According to conventional definition [0], they don't.

boyka··on Ask HN: What books should I read to improve as a software engineer?
Not a manual, handbook, or guide per se - but I've learned an awful lot from reading

Coders at Work: Reflections on the Craft of Programming

boyka··on Google reported a 13% increase in its emissions footprint in 2023
I highly recommend the book „the big con“.
boyka··on I am starting an AI+Education company
Can someone please provide the mentioned links? (For those without X account)
boyka··on Claude 3.5 Sonnet
These models are clearly great with language, be it natural language or code. However, I wonder where the expectation comes from that a static stochastic parrot should be able to compute arbitrary first order logic (in a series of one-shot next word predictions). Could any expert elaborate on how this would be solved by a transformer model?
boyka··on What's up Python? Django get background tasks, a new REPL, bye bye gunicorn
I've been looking for know anything resembling django's ORM _including_ migrations in rust, but haven't found a good replacement.
boyka··on Germany's autobahn bridges falling apart
Germany decided to place the vast majority of freight transport on the autobahn instead of on rails as most countries do. I guess this is going to have a self-reinforcing effect with autobahns being increasingly congested and badly maintained.
boyka··on Google DeepMind shifts from research lab to AI product factory
Likely that some McKinsey type consultants or ex-consultants in senior management deem this to be absolutely necessary and the only way to go.
boyka··on Maryland pardons 175,000 people of cannabis convictions
Given that 175,000 people are roughly 4% of the working population, that’s quite a payday for all the lawyers in the state.
boyka··on Is Aschenbrenner's 165 page paper on AI the naivety of a 25 year old?
SV?
boyka··on Terence Tao on proof checkers and AI programs
Care to explain?

E.g. https://mathoverflow.net/questions/226966/algorithmic-comple...

boyka··on Terence Tao on proof checkers and AI programs
Isn’t proof checking at least as hard as k-sat and therefore NP? Given that neural networks process in constant time, how would that be possible without approximation?
boyka··on Apple must open iPadOS to sideloading within 6 months, EU says
I guess this only applies to new releases of iPadOS? Meaning no possibility to make old iPads reusable as, e.g., a linux machine?
boyka··on LLMs approach expert-level clinical knowledge and reasoning in ophthalmology
FTFA?
boyka··on A Japanese hikikomori released a game after 6 years of development [video]
Since shut-in, he probably spends the majority of his life immersed in an English speaking environment. MattVsJapan[0] is a even more extreme example.
