botw··on What is the difference between deep learning and usual machine learning?
That is why random generator has seed, which sometimes considers non-deterministic factors such as hardware noise and environment noise.
botw··on Owncloud has been forked into Nextcloud
extructure? why is that important?
botw··on Stanza: A New Optionally-Typed General Purpose Language from UC Berkeley
There seems still a long way to go. Write some deeper documentation on language philosophy, implementation and interesting examples to show its strength in solving a particular problem. Get the language features stablized and then allow other contributors to develop libraries as Go and Nodejs went. Choose a niche market to create a community.

Get working regex and networking libraries out first, GUI/3D later.

I expect to see it first useful in scientific and engineering domain. I wish to see an example for easily solving constraint optimization such as hospital staff scheduling. If it can demonstrate easy problem solving in AI/machine learning/data science, then it would be a good start to attract followers..

But I had the opposite experience - slow in the beginning of the project and productive near the end of the project. I had this pattern even back in my university assignments.

botw··on Autocomplete from Stack Overflow
Why downvoted? I read the pun and couldn't help chuckling so wrote that as my expression. I regarded that as black humor.
botw··on HTTP/HTTPS not working inside your VM? Wait for it
I have the same problem with VirtualBox Linux VM, was wondering what is going on, and this post comes up. I am not sure if it is the same reason. I tried:

tc qdisc add dev eth0 root netem delay 100ms

and:

printf 'HEAD / HTTP/1.0\r\n\r\n' | nc -6 rachelbythebay.com 80

returns nothing whereas

printf 'HEAD / HTTP/1.0\r\n\r\n' | nc -4 rachelbythebay.com 80

returns as expected.

In my case, firefox has no problem if invoked from command line, but "sometimes" it just hang up when invoked from script.

haha:)))
botw··on AlphaGo shows its true strength in 3rd victory against Lee Sedol
The actual match is largely effected by psycology at the time of game. The match is somewhat unfair to human player. AlphaGo and its team know all about each human player and preference. But human player knows little about AlphaGo. Also it is AlphaGo team who decides whom to choose to play against AlphaGo, not the other round. In the sense of psycology and , the game is greatly favor to AlphaGo right now. This is the difference with the match between IBM DeepBlue and the chess world champion 10 years ago. It should be that any player(human or AI) can be allowed to enter the game, with or without a fee.

please give the definition for a set of deterministic calculations.
botw··on C pointers are not hardware pointers
This is interesting. If this is true, then a lot of code based on the assumption p == q would be broken.

botw··on MSYS2: Arch Linux on Microsoft Windows
what is the benefit for midipix comparing with mxe.cc mentioned above?
botw··on MSYS2: Arch Linux on Microsoft Windows
The effort for MSYS2 and Git-4-Windows should be merged as one project.
botw··on MSYS2: Arch Linux on Microsoft Windows
As far as I understand, cygwin/msys gcc compiles and links against cygwin.dll/msys.dll which is a incomplete POSIX emulation on Windows. mingw gcc compiles and links against msvc.dll which is MS c runtime for MS win32 native application.
botw··on MSYS2: Arch Linux on Microsoft Windows
What specific stuff does mxe add compared with MinGW cross compiler itself?
botw··on Curl vs. Wget
My first impression is 'cat URL' not 'see URL'. The wikipedia article does not have to be official.
botw··on Show HN: Flat – Music notation software: Web-based and Real-time collaboration

botw··on Ask HN: Which browser has annotation capibility?
That is not how I expect annotation works. I expect annotation is an (text/image) overlay on top on the webpage, not something hidden on side.
botw··on Ask HN: Which browser has annotation capibility?
Microsoft Edge only works on Windows 10. I am on Windows 7 and don't see a need to upgrade to Windows 10 in the near future.
