borkyborkbork··on Neal Stephenson – Announcing Polostan
The Baroque Cycle is what made me stop reading him. It actually pissed me off.
borkyborkbork··on Tesla putting Musk pay package up for another vote after judge voided first one
^^ Original vote and the new one is by the shareholders.
borkyborkbork··on Tesla putting Musk pay package up for another vote after judge voided first one
That is not what the court said.

It said that the board did not explain the conditions correctly to the shareholders. Hence, they will provide shareholders with a full explanation of what the conditions were back in 2018 before this new vote.

borkyborkbork··on Tesla to lay off more than 10% of its staff
The secret to their success is to build and test new tech in a low volume high cost vehicled then take that knowledge and build cheaper. Model S/X -> Model 3/Y.

With that info, you can easily forecast that the tech they are testing in the Cybertruk will be the foundation for the 25k car.

borkyborkbork··on Becoming a dungeon master for an interview
This so much this! Experience is such a wonderful thing.
borkyborkbork··on Ask HN: Advice for a new father?
Here is mine but may only help as they get older:

- You want them to find something that they enjoy a lot as they grow.

- Giving them something they are responsible for is unbelievably important. I have seen that lack of responsibility can lead to anxiety and much worse.

- Every age has it's challenges and benefits. I have fond memories for when the kids were young but don't think I could handle it at my age. Teenage years involved a lot of serious issues.

borkyborkbork··on Tesla power steering probe upgraded after thousands more incidents reported
With a steering column backup. Cybertruck is the first without the column to spear you in an accident.
borkyborkbork··on Tesla Model Y range estimate reduced by 6%, becoming more realistic
Because I've gone 6 months with my EV charging only in my garage. I have never needed to go anywhere to "fill it up".

Also, where I live I have to drive 15 minutes each way to do the 5 minute fill up. I am saving 35 minutes every week by not having to go somewhere to fill my gas.

borkyborkbork··on Tesla Model Y range estimate reduced by 6%, becoming more realistic
You can add that an EV's battery is the most expensive part of the car and that a user can easily damage the battery if they drive/charge in a non optimal way.

I really do not want some other yahoo's battery after I take care of mine meticulously.

borkyborkbork··on Tesla Model Y range estimate reduced by 6%, becoming more realistic
You can get 20%+ more mileage than EPA on a single charge when doing city driving.

I consistently get 380 miles+ on my Model Y long range.

borkyborkbork··on Tesla Model Y range estimate reduced by 6%, becoming more realistic
Yea... their only real competitor is a single Chinese company (BYD).
borkyborkbork··on Tesla Model Y range estimate reduced by 6%, becoming more realistic
One way to get more done than others, is to set the goal out far enough that if you miss it you will do more than others.

Tesla and Space X have accomplished more than any other company in the last 70 years within their respective industries.

borkyborkbork··on SpaceX’s monstrous, dirt-cheap Starship may transform space travel
Correct. Musk has not kept a secret of what his ultimate goals are. Both Tesla and SpaceX have had the plans on their websites for decades.
borkyborkbork··on SpaceX’s monstrous, dirt-cheap Starship may transform space travel
Is there a way to save comments so I can come back and laugh at them when I'm feeling down?
borkyborkbork··on SpaceX’s monstrous, dirt-cheap Starship may transform space travel
Almost like someone who would think that they could do something that whole countries haven't been able to do in 60+ years?
borkyborkbork··on SpaceX’s monstrous, dirt-cheap Starship may transform space travel
What statements are you wanting to hold him responsible for?
borkyborkbork··on Tesla remotely unlocks Model 3 car, uses smart summon to help repo agent
I wouldn't describe Tesla as a corporation that is risk averse.
borkyborkbork··on It feels like America is running out of everything
The big problem is media is greatly funded by clicks, which leads to picking a demographic and pandering to it.

Hence AT&T owning CNN & then coming up with the idea for a network like OAN to cater to a different demographic.

borkyborkbork··on Why doesn’t natural immunity count in the US?
That is a statement that really needs some backup.
borkyborkbork··on US Cybercom says mass exploitation of Atlassian Confluence vulnerability ongoing
Jetbrains Youtrack is soooo much better in any and all ways that I can think of. https://www.jetbrains.com/youtrack/
borkyborkbork··on Tesla AI Day Live Stream [video]
You seem so sure of yourself.
borkyborkbork··on Tesla: Artificial Intelligence and Autopilot
I googled this for you: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=how+muc...
borkyborkbork··on Tesla: Artificial Intelligence and Autopilot
I believe they said that LIDAR was so low resolution and was giving so many false readings that they had to give it up when using it in the real world (non pre-mapped cities like some other companies).
borkyborkbork··on Grand jury indicts Trevor Milton, Nikola founder, on three counts of fraud
Legally he is a founder. https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/tesla-ceo-settles-for-...

Kimball doesn't run part of the infrastructure.

You sound like someone who writes SeekingAlpha FUD articles.

borkyborkbork··on Grand jury indicts Trevor Milton, Nikola founder, on three counts of fraud
You have to be a troll if you are trying to convince people that a self propulsive vehicle, and an unpowered structure that can only move by being pushed or rolling down a hill are the same thing.
borkyborkbork··on Show HN: Tara – A smart and free alternative to Jira
Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket. By looking at their interfaces and how they are linked to each other technically, you would think they were made by different companies and hacked together after the fact.

We just moved away from Atlassian to JetBrain's YouTrack. Huuge improvement in usability, system administration, cost.

borkyborkbork··on Show HN: Tara – A smart and free alternative to Jira
This is key for us.
borkyborkbork··on Dented Reality: Magic Leap Sees Slow Sales, Steep Losses
What I find funny is that I believe he worked at Valve at the same time Jeri Ellsworth was there solving most of these issues.

Her new TiltFive system is "AR somewhere" rather than AR everywhere which allows it to provide a solid, practical, and affordable experience.

Here's a Tested review if you haven't looked into T5 before...
