borispavlovic··on Americans crushed by auto loans as defaults and repossessions surge
Buy the car you can afford by paying in cash, or a small enough loan that even 10% will be manageable.
borispavlovic··on PySkyWiFi: Free stupid wi-fi on long-haul flights
Hm... I've just checked on amazon.de and it's still available in several versions.
borispavlovic··on The Internet in Greece
As a regular tourist visiting Greece the slow internet in tourist areas is "a feature, not a bug" for me. It allows me to stay connected, download during the night some podcast shows and stream music. Video is painfully slow which motivates me to hang out with people or read books. Lovely.
borispavlovic··on Tiny, tamper-proof ID tag can authenticate almost anything
I read 99% percent accuracy in a given time. For 1% the algorithm could ask the user for patience and perform a "deeper" search increasing its overall accuracy.
borispavlovic··on GM says it's dropping Apple CarPlay and Android Auto because they're unsafe
There are cheap bluetooth dongles with female audio port that a pair of headphones could be plugged turning them into bluetooth headphones. Calls will most probably not work, though.
borispavlovic··on Apple just lost its lawsuit trying to ban iOS virtual machines
It's on the expensive side, I know, but have you considered using bitrise.io?
borispavlovic··on Digitec Galaxus now displays warranty score and return rate
They have few hundreds developers in Belgrade, Serbia https://www.linkedin.com/showcase/digitec-galaxus-doo/. I'm very proud of their work.
borispavlovic··on Robot treats 500k plants per hour with 95% less chemicals [video]
First class wagons are used exactly for that, to show the wealth.
borispavlovic··on Israel passes law denying naturalization to Palestinian spouses
It would be interesting to see the ration between the Arab Israelis wishing to marry an Arab from WB/Gaza and Jewish Israelis wishing to marry a Jewish from WB/Gaza. Laws make sense in a context of a society.
borispavlovic··on Novak Djokovic's Visa Cancelled by Australian Minister for Immigration
in the first case he's on the hook in Serbia, not in Australia

in the second case, these documents resolve to an official Serbian covid certificate web page and it's the country of Serbia responsibility to explain to other countries in the world how that was possible to happen and to find out who did it

now, the fact that Novak visited Spain and his agency "forgot" to mention it in the PLF that's a leverage that could be used

borispavlovic··on Discipline by King Crimson
U2 "Achtung Baby" is a pretty big redefinition of their musical expression compared to albums released in the 2nd half of 80's
borispavlovic··on Duolingo S-1 IPO
Pimsleur is great to improve your pronunciation and learn until B1. From there on I would recommend using Memrise and ClozeMaster. Memrise has a great collection of community based courses that will push up to C1
borispavlovic··on Backblaze submitting names and sizes of files in B2 buckets to Facebook
Fine, then use Matomo (https://matomo.org/) which even offers a free tier.
borispavlovic··on Mira Furlan has died
she was even better in Yugoslav movies from the 80's before, like 'The Beauty of Vice' https://easterneuropeanmovies.com/drama/the-beauty-of-vice or 'When Father was away on business' https://easterneuropeanmovies.com/drama/when-father-was-away...
borispavlovic··on Covid vaccine: First ‘milestone’ vaccine offers 90% protection
don't know about other countries but in Switzerland somehow people do not get the codes for Covid app with positive test results. even if they had the app installed and running the crucial step of entering the official code is failing
borispavlovic··on Things that I think will be important in the next decade
Google+ comes to mind and the time when thousands of engineers couldn't stir the interest of public to turn to the service
borispavlovic··on All of Oculus’s Rift headsets have stopped working due to an expired certificate
That engineer earned himself a nice bonus. Hope he'll get it

borispavlovic··on Origins of the Sicilian Mafia: The Market for Lemons
That's the argument Solzhenitsin used in his Archipelag Goulag to explain the strand between the Tchetchens and Russians in the labor camps. Vendetta among Thecthens gave them super powers when confronted with Russians knowing they would go unpunished for inflicting fear
borispavlovic··on Facebook users in Romania see content related to street protests reviewed
I'd rather agree it's a correct term. With such a growth of GDP the country is indeed developing: https://www.google.ch/search?q=growth+of+gdp+romania
borispavlovic··on Israel Hacked Kaspersky, Then Tipped NSA Its Tools Had Been Breached

The big car in the center is a BMW and behind, a bit left is the Peugeot
borispavlovic··on StackOverflow for private teams in beta
There's a viable privately hosted alternative with Atlassian's "Questions for Confluence" (https://www.atlassian.com/software/confluence/questions)
borispavlovic··on How we invented new ways to teach Japanese
I've been learning French for years. After having finished the course on Duolingo you have no reason to come back to the application. Memrise, for example, offers numerous courses for French, other languages, and other areas of knowledge. The repetition algorithm is superb and the ability to add your own courses as community contribution is killing.
borispavlovic··on “I was just asked to balance a Binary Search Tree by JFK's airport immigration”
And in Geneva airport
borispavlovic··on Whither Stack Overflow
Is this a problem with wikipedia.org? Imagine both of these sets of questions tagged as `religion` and you have a common source for all people interested generally in any religion.
borispavlovic··on Comodo Antivirus Forwards Emulated API Calls to the Real API During Scans
Anti-virus software vendors, for example.
borispavlovic··on Why we should fear a cashless world
There will always be ways to evade taxes and the problem with Italy, Greece and other southern societies is not technical but a weak government which can't impose the already existing laws to their citizens, public workers and politicians themselves. Going cashless is not an excuse for an incompetent tax office and Ministry of Finance.
borispavlovic··on Dutch government says no to backdoors, grants $540k to OpenSSL
You're doing exactly the thing that you're accusing of -- labeling. Just because you disagree with left parties' policies you're labeling them they were running towards Stalin and USSR, which is also not very logical since Stalin died in 1952.
borispavlovic··on How the 'John Oliver Effect' Is Having a Real-Life Impact
Colbert and Oliver are not the only 'children' of Stewart. In these days of Serbian populist government Zoran Kesić's show '24 Minutes with Zoran Kesić' is one of the few islands of open critique of the regime on the TV with national coverage. (https://www.youtube.com/user/24minutaofficial)
