bor100003··on Ask HN: What podcasts are you listening to?
I didn't see The Privacy, Security, & OSINT Show by Michale Bazell. Any opinions on it? The Drive - Peter Attia. Happy Path Programming - Bruce Eckel
bor100003··on Ask HN: Where should I buy my next book?
Any suggestions for Europe?
bor100003··on Google turned me into a serial killer
I'm sharing a name and surname with a (Bulgarian) criminal. Not sure what to do since it's not a problem so far and google doesn't show any of my pictures.
bor100003··on Why I Work on Ads
Saying so with your real name and blog? Good luck.
bor100003··on Ask HN: Is Quora Finished?
It has a lot of pointless content and it seems like there are always better sources than it. Maybe their user base grows but the quality of answers drops.
bor100003··on Ask HN: Why are the most MOOCs videos showing the lecturer in the video?
Being recognizable is a point for sure.
bor100003··on Ask HN: Why are the most MOOCs videos showing the lecturer in the video?
Yes, some research is welcome.
bor100003··on Coursera S-1 IPO
I have the same feeling about the UI. The last time I tried watching a course was easier to find the videos on youtube(the author had uploaded them there as well).
bor100003··on Obfuscated Tiny C Compiler
I always check the topics on Bellard here on HN, really insightful.

Let's don't forget the obligatory: "Can he invert a binary tree on a whiteboard though?"

bor100003··on Ask HN: Is working for FAANG as big of a deal in Europe as it is in the US??
It's something that must be said, even if they did only a summer internship.
bor100003··on Ask HN: Is working for FAANG as big of a deal in Europe as it is in the US??
On every technical talk, there's at least one presenter bragging about previous experience at FAANG. No exceptions, always 1 slide.
bor100003··on Ask HN: How much of your time at work as a software engineer is spent coding?
Here is a quote from "The Tale of J. Random Newbie" by ESR:

"He had heard in college that in industry, a hundred lines of finished code a week is considered good performance."

bor100003··on Ask HN: Is it time to quit tech industry?
DSA and competitive programming can be quite engaging as well but doing it for whiteboarding and cracking interviews is horrible.
bor100003··on Ask HN: Has anyone else just gotten bored of the Internet?
People should take sleep and rest seriously. No smartphones and inet after 10PM, no in the weekends, no on vacations, no online entertainments.
bor100003··on Ask HN: What are your favorite essays?
"In Praise of Idleness" by Bertrand Russell

"On the Phenomenon of Bullshit Jobs: A Work Rant" by David Graeber

"Industrial Society and its .." just kidding

bor100003··on Is Anyone Else Just Done?
Can you give some examples of the bigger part of the tech industry without supporting legacy systems, government IT and academia? I feel companies are having very similar business models because all get from the same pool of money.
bor100003··on Ask HN: Please stop writing tutorials/tech articles on Medium
My mail issue with Medium, except the paywall, is the clutter. It feels like all the articles are having big, usually unrelated images that make the whole site inclined toward sensationalism.
bor100003··on Latency Numbers Every Programmer Should Know (2012)
It's great if you know them, but you can put "Every programmer should know" on everything you use daily and post it. It looks like the clickbait articles "N books every programmer should read" and see the thick books on algorithms.
bor100003··on Bash Pitfalls
I have the same feeling. In most cases you do the job without any external libs which is rarely the case with other programming languages.
bor100003··on TensorFlow, Keras and deep learning, without a PhD
Hey, but ML is the new electricity and you are certified. /s
bor100003··on TensorFlow, Keras and deep learning, without a PhD
Do big companies, offering ML/AI courses hire people with just some of their certificates? I mean, do these courses skip the whiteboarding?
bor100003··on Ask HN: Tired of Leetcode style interviews. What to do?
Asking in advance about the type of interviews helps. Better avoid wasting a whole day when you are not prepared. At least to reduce the stress of whiteboarding. Algorithms are fun, but most of the people don't implement BFS after the college.
bor100003··on Teach Yourself Computer Science
OK, great books, I haven't read any of them. Please, can someone share experience reading the recommended books? When did you do it?
bor100003··on Ask HN: How do you read long PDFs?
Depending on the margins length, reading on a kindle can be pretty good. If there are diagrams and tables that won't be convenient.
bor100003··on Ask HN: What do you think about the self-promotion titles on GitHub?
I understand your point, cannot edit the "stupid" word.
bor100003··on John Carmack is reading and contributing to OpenBSD source code
Yes, any results?
bor100003··on Ask HN: Why isn’t visual programming a bigger thing?
Visual tools seems to be harder to manage and add a lot of overhead.

Have you heard of Informatica PowerCenter? It creates a mapping instead of writing down SQL query. The problem is you must manage inconsistent interfaces, resize windows, writing down in small textboxes.

Of course it has its benefits, but in most cases it just doesn't help much in removing complexity but it adds its own.

bor100003··on Making Emacs Popular Again
I will repeat what others said but here we go. On my work pc, on windows, VSCodium works much better when it comes to graphics.
bor100003··on Most-recommended programming books
There's every month here and on reddit such lists with best programming books, I guess it's profitable to recommend them?
bor100003··on Why Is Facebook Not in the Cloud Business?
How do the Libra crypto connect the world? No sarcasm here.
