bopbopbop7··on Claude’s C Compiler vs. GCC
Just a couple more trillion and 6 more months!
bopbopbop7··on Claude’s C Compiler vs. GCC
> I believe that LLM's are making traditional programming obsolete. In fact there isn't any doubt in my mind.

Is this what AI psychosis looks like? How can anyone that is a half decent programmer actually believe that English + non-deterministic code generator will replace "traditional" programming?

bopbopbop7··on You Are Here
Ah, so no longer misinformation?
bopbopbop7··on You Are Here
Go look at the 40k failing CI/CD runs on the famous cursor browser.
bopbopbop7··on You Are Here
AI misinformation? Please do provide some examples.

Your whole history is AI psychosis btw, seek help.

bopbopbop7··on You Are Here
The one that cursor used to build their famous browser.

I think the author forgot that code has to compile and be useful.

And how much is technical debt worth?

bopbopbop7··on You Are Here
Has there been any good and useful software created with LLMs or any increase in software quality that we can actually look at?

So far it's just AI doom posting, hype bloggers that haven't shipped anything, anecdotes without evidence, increase in CVEs, increase in outages, and degraded software quality.

bopbopbop7··on You Are Here
Because who cares about correct and compilable code, any code will do!
bopbopbop7··on We mourn our craft
Because anything not quantitative is either “trust me bro” or AI marketing. Some of us are engineers, so we want to see actual numbers and not vibes.

And there are studies on this subject, like the MITRE study that shows that development speed decreases with LLMs while developers think it increases speed.

bopbopbop7··on We mourn our craft
Maybe we should look at output like quality of software being produced instead of discourse on forums where AI companies are spending billions to market?

Where is all this new software and increased software quality from all this progression?

bopbopbop7··on We mourn our craft
A non-deterministic, slow, pay to use, compiler for a language that is not precise enough for software. What an amazing abstraction!
bopbopbop7··on We mourn our craft
If you're asking me to define a very clear bar, it's obvious nothing cleared it.

Anything that proves that LLMs increase software quality. Any software built with an LLM that is actually in production, survives maintenance, doesn't have 100 CVEs, that people actually use.

bopbopbop7··on We mourn our craft
Something tells me a non-deterministic code generator won't be the solution to this problem.

> Every major tech company is using AI for a significant % of their code

It shows, increased outages, increased vulnerabilities, windows failing to boot, windows task bar is still react native and barely works. And I have spoken to engineers at FANG companies, they are forced to use LLMs, managers are literally tracking metrics. So where is all this amazing new software and software quality or increased productivity from them?

bopbopbop7··on We mourn our craft
It really shouldn't be this hard to just provide one piece of evidence. Is anecdotes of toy internal greenfield projects that could probably be built with a drag and drop no-code editor really the best from this LLM revolution?
bopbopbop7··on We mourn our craft
> every company from seed stage to unicorns are heavily using claude code, cursor, and the like to produce software

> The difference in pace of shipping with and without AI assistance is staggering.

Lets back up these statements with some evidence, something quantitative, not just what pre-IPO AI marketing blog posts are telling you.

bopbopbop7··on We mourn our craft
I'll believe it when I start seeing examples of good and useful software being created with LLMs or some increase in software quality. So far it's just AI doom posting, hype bloggers that haven't shipped anything, anecdotes without evidence, increase in CVEs, increase in outages, and degraded software quality.
bopbopbop7··on We mourn our craft
Just a couple more trillion dollars, we are so close!
bopbopbop7··on The AI boom is causing shortages everywhere else
What is he missing? Do you have anything quantitative other than an AI marketing blog or an anecdote?
bopbopbop7··on How to effectively write quality code with AI
I heard that about NFTs not long ago.
bopbopbop7··on How to effectively write quality code with AI
Where is all the amazing software and/or improvements in software quality that is supposed to be coming from this revolution?

So far the only output is the "How I use AI blogs", AI marketing blogs, more CVEs, more outages, degraded software quality, and not much of shipping anything.

Is there any examples of real products and not just anecdotes of "I'm 10x more productive!"?

Speaking of obnoxious
bopbopbop7··on We tasked Opus 4.6 using agent teams to build a C Compiler
The trick to not be confused is to read more than the title of the article.
bopbopbop7··on We tasked Opus 4.6 using agent teams to build a C Compiler
Do you think this was guided by a low quality Anthropic developer?

You can give a developer the GCC test suite and have them build the compiler backwards, which is how this was done. They literally brute forced it, most developers can brute force. It also literally uses GCC in the background... Maybe try reading the article.

bopbopbop7··on We tasked Opus 4.6 using agent teams to build a C Compiler
100k lines of clean, bug free, optimized, and vulnerability free code or 100k lines of outsourced slop? Two very different price points.
bopbopbop7··on We tasked Opus 4.6 using agent teams to build a C Compiler
Some people care more about compiler speed than the correctness? I would love to meet these imaginary people that are fine with a compiler that is straight up broken. Emitting working code is the baseline, not some preference slider.
bopbopbop7··on We tasked Opus 4.6 using agent teams to build a C Compiler
A pay to use non-deterministic compiler. Sounds amazing, you should start.

> Besides, what is the human brain if not a machine that generates "tokens" that the body propagates through nerves to produce physical actions?

Ah yes, the brain is as simple as predicting the next token, you just cracked what neuroscientists couldn't for years.

I just one shot a Gameboy emulator by going to Github and cloning one of the 100 I can find.
