bobstobener··on Tech workers are increasingly looking to leave Silicon Valley
I always thought it was incredibly ironic that an industry that's responsible for creating the virtual world would require all those working to create it to live in the same physical neighborhood.
bobstobener··on The Four Horsemen: Amazon/Apple/Facebook and Google--Who Wins/Loses
Nails it.

bobstobener··on Show HN: Kronikl … Share what you want and keep the rest
Kronikl is a project we've been working on for the past year. It's deigned as a personal Facebook; a private experience where you can save and preserve the things that are important to you and build an archive of your storyline. You can share posts with friends from your Line, you can build a Line together with your friends or you can keep all of your content to yourself. Our video is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_gTUVF1kNI. You can see the project at https://www.kronikl.me. Feel free to offer any feedback.
bobstobener··on ColdFusion Railo deployment in Jelastic, a user review
Very cool. Looking forward to trying it.
bobstobener··on Why Objective-C is Hard
Not looking for trouble here but writing an iPhone app should be no more difficult than creating a Keynote presentation, imho. If Apple is the leader in document development (Keynote, etc), why can't they do the same with writing apps. Look at what they've done with the complexities of video editing. Where is the consumer grade development app for iPhone?
bobstobener··on How to Procrastinate and still get things done
Or, as designed by academia and force-fed into the business structure, the PMBOK. http://www.amazon.com/Guide-Project-Management-Body-Knowledg...
bobstobener··on Why must you laugh at my back end?
Which is very unfortunate because Railo is a great product and, in several ways, superior to the Adobe engine. You're right about the branding aspect.
bobstobener··on Why must you laugh at my back end?
Thanks I'll check it out.
bobstobener··on Why must you laugh at my back end?
CFML has great frameworks as well. One of many ... https://github.com/seancorfield/fw1/wiki
bobstobener··on Why must you laugh at my back end?
Typical posts against CFML. "It's old." Well then so is Java, PHP, you name it. Actually, of all of those languages, CFML has the latest iteration (which is the most important stat). Railo and Adobe both have new updates ariving soon. Hey, how bout that JSTL huh? Morbid since the late 90's.
bobstobener··on Why must you laugh at my back end?
I've built my product on CFML as well and I can't understand why it doesn't get more love from the developer community. It's a solid, productive language and the only language available in both commercial and open source (free) versions with tremendous support forums on both fronts. I personally use Railo for the CFML engine. Again, very productive and it enables me to get products to an MVP stage quickly.
bobstobener··on Steve Jobs Resigns as Apple CEO (Official Letter)
The Walt Disney of technology. I will miss him. Get well Steve.

bobstobener··on How to beat Apple
Microsoft became successful primarily by IT department mandate in the 80's and 90's. Apple has been successful due to its focus on user/consumer experience. We now live in an era where consumers have a larger voice in technology selection and the Microsoft/Corporate IT department mandate is becoming less significant. You can beat Apple only by delivering the best consumer experience possible.

bobstobener··on Show HN: Peekadots Project; feedback appreciated
Thank you for the feedback. I should have added that you can see a test account with a user email of jetsons1962@yahoo.com and a password of jetsons. Good point on a better "book" example. I'll add it to the list. Thanks again.
bobstobener··on Ideas suck
Perfect post. Absolutely spot on.
bobstobener··on Please tell us what features you'd like in news.ycombinator
I'm addicted to HN. One little gripe ... can you have the links from the news list open into new tabs or windows? Makes it easy to return to the HN menu. Thanks!!!
