> but the C for them is its own little world playing by its own rules, separate from C used everywhere else.

Sadly, this isn't unique to micros...

bobmcnamara··on C's Flexible Integer Sizes Were Not a Design Mistake
> All relevant platforms

Don't make me tap the sign: the majority of processors running C are weird little dirtbag chips of 16 bits or less sprinkled by the dozen.

Oh geeze I went from an UltraSPARC III to a T1 and performance tanked.

Turns out my use case was not large numbers of parallel integer only threads.

bobmcnamara··on Samsung is expected to more than double output of its HBM4 and HBM4E DRAM
> There is no monopoly on computer memory.

Never has been, but what makes you think the major players won't collude to keep prices high?

bobmcnamara··on Samsung is expected to more than double output of its HBM4 and HBM4E DRAM
Intel and IBM have already done this almost this with their wide eDRAM caches.

The advantage in going wide is transferring cache lines rapidly, not the CPU bus interface.

No, it's definitely Diego Garcia - UK sometimes uses it as a holding pen for asylum seekers.

Of course Diego Garcia doesn't have the ability to accept or process asylum applications.

It's a very British trap.

bobmcnamara··on As Wisconsin cities flee Flock, its shared camera network loses value
A few yes, though wage & PTO theft and wage fixing were the financially most impactful.

> Loads of those just fall through the cracks of the system.

Annoyances aside, I'm still not sure it's worth trading civil liberties when wage theft dwarfs the entire category of property crime.

bobmcnamara··on As Wisconsin cities flee Flock, its shared camera network loses value
My child's daycare has cameras, accessible to management, with some time period of ring buffering, available at the DVR. I know everyone with access.

Playgrounds with flock cameras allow folks I don't know to watch children live.
