bo0tzz··on Google flags Immich sites as dangerous
If anyone's got questions about this setup I'd be happy to chat about it!
bo0tzz··on Google flags Immich sites as dangerous
> what Immich is doing here is extremely dangerous

You fully misunderstand what content is hosted on these sites. It's only builds from internal branches by the core team, there is no path for "external user" content to land on this domain.

bo0tzz··on Google flags Immich sites as dangerous
No, it doesn't work at all for PRs from forks.
bo0tzz··on Framework supporting far-right racists?
I'm not opposed to people having different opinions. What I am opposed to is people making a space actively hostile to others and hiding behind their "freedom of opinion".
bo0tzz··on Framework supporting far-right racists?
I agree that if people were able to keep their hate out of these spaces they would be much more pleasant for people to engage in.
bo0tzz··on Framework supporting far-right racists?
> I have yet to see evidence DHH is a far-right racist.

Clearly linked in the above thread: https://jakelazaroff.com/words/dhh-is-way-worse-than-i-thoug...

bo0tzz··on Framework supporting far-right racists?
Everything is political, especially something like the open source world (explicitly). Trying to hide from politics is just naivety and gives space to bad actors.
bo0tzz··on Immich v2.0.0 – First stable release
You're counting a lot of generated code.
bo0tzz··on Immich v2.0.0 – First stable release
> ripe for the typical OSS rugpull

Immich is AGPL-licensed and doesn't have a CLA, which makes it functionally impossible for us to do any kind of rugpull. We're already "aqcuired" by FUTO since a solid year ago[0] and it's only been up since then.

> I don't need a Google Photos replacement.

Then there are many other options in this space that might be better suited to you. [1] has a really good overview.

bo0tzz··on Immich mobile app sync V2
Description search does a literal text search by the editable description field on the assets, context search uses the ML/CLIP search to do semantic search. Sounds like you might just have them mixed up?
bo0tzz··on Immich mobile app sync V2
Immich isn't "cloud storage", at least in the sense that the server runs on your own system. We hope to have more improvements in the future to allow it to replace the local gallery app on a device, but it'll always need the server for the full functionality.
bo0tzz··on PostgreSQL 18 Released
A quiet addition here that I'm very excited about is the extension_control_path configuration, which will make adding extensions in environments like Kubernetes a whole lot nicer (see eg https://cloudnative-pg.io/documentation/1.27/imagevolume_ext...).
bo0tzz··on Immich – High performance self-hosted photo and video management
> Immich started as a project after Photoprism changed their licensing to restrict several features

It didn't, that's just a timing coincidence. Immich was started because none of the existing projects offered the google photos-like experience.

bo0tzz··on Immich – High performance self-hosted photo and video management
No
bo0tzz··on Cursed Knowledge
It was indeed the default at the time.
bo0tzz··on Broadcom to discontinue free Bitnami Helm charts
> zero to fully running (...) in 5 seconds by just running helm install

Realistically, a plain helm install without any values rarely if ever gives you the deployment you need, so you have to study the chart anyways.

> rollback on failure

This is hardly unique to helm.

> history metadata without (...) some external system

In 2025 you should probably be using gitops anyways, in which case the git repo is your history.

bo0tzz··on Running a Certificate Transparency log
Thanks, that clarifies a lot!
bo0tzz··on Running a Certificate Transparency log
I've been trying to get an understanding of this number myself as well. I'm not quite there yet, but I believe it's talking about read traffic, ie serving clients that are looking at the log, not handling new certificates coming in.
bo0tzz··on Major reversal in ocean circulation detected in the Southern Ocean
The high pressure at depth allows it to dissolve more gas.

We already have clear solutions, the powers that be just don't want to sacrifice their profit margins.
bo0tzz··on Rsync's defaults are not always enough
This is one of many reasons to avoid rsync for "backups" and instead use an actual backup tool.

bo0tzz··on High Available Mosquitto MQTT on Kubernetes
It is a paywall, clustering won't work unless you have a license key.
bo0tzz··on High Available Mosquitto MQTT on Kubernetes
EMQX just locked HA/clustering behind a paywall: https://www.emqx.com/en/blog/adopting-business-source-licens...

A bunch of work is currently going into improving that.

That's not what they said.

Sounds to me like you're hanging out with the wrong people.
bo0tzz··on Science YouTuber physicsgirl (Dianna Cowern) stands for the first time in 2 yrs
GPs here are just absolutely useless. Have you tried reaching out to one of the specialized clinics? I've been under treatment for ME/CFS at Vermoeidheidkliniek (yeah, not the best name) and all of the specialists there have been incredibly helpful and willing to try different things.
bo0tzz··on No Billionares at FOSDEM
> implying that having money in itself (and not a specific way of behaving) is wrong, unethical, and worthy of exclusion.

Having money in the abstract is not. But being a billionaire is.
