bmaier··on Weeblies aren't wobbling: Launches AdSense for Dummies and Pro accounts
Somebody at the LA Times is incredibly receptive to PR people: first friendfeed profile and now weebly. Great scores guys!
bmaier··on Ask YC: Looking for a new UI designer/programmer (YouIntern.com) (NYC)
While programmers keep UI in mind, a UI designer and a programmer are two very different things...
bmaier··on Ask YC: Should 37signals be banned from YC?
I agree with their model and love what they write, though I do think that they could post a picture of themselves and it would get voted up here just the same.
bmaier··on Ask HN: Good Web UI Designers
It always surprises me when people go looking for good AND cheap. There is a difference between cost and value.
bmaier··on Secrets to smart decisions when you graduate from college
Seriously. I find it difficult to take advice from her after some of the stuff she writes on her blog.
bmaier··on Ask YC: Nonprofit funding
Use http://ThePoint.com !
bmaier··on Ask YC: "Can a 40 year old, married with 3 children, start a start-up?"
Can a dog with 3 legs walk? Yeah, but its more difficult than if it had 4 legs.
bmaier··on Bill Gates stumps for the death of the Keyboard
In my opinion the keyboard will become the interface of the power user while the average person uses the new tools. I just dont see a hacker not using a keyboard in the next 10 years imagine having to say a string into a microphone instead of typing it
bmaier··on Ask YC: If you could create the ultimate tech news site what would it look like?
I guess my question would be more in line with: What would you like to see in a location-centric tech news site that provides the content for the social news sites we love.

bmaier··on How to Know if a Start-Up is Right for You
Good advice I suppose, but how many times is someone going to write a blog post about the same thing
bmaier··on Is IKEA the World’s Largest Charity?
Charity, probably not. Incredibly complex tax reduction plan, sure.
bmaier··on Ask YC: Feedback on my webapp (semantic social bookmarking tool)
Nice Job, shows that sometimes simple is the best way.
bmaier··on Ask YC: How would you sell your business?
Looks like his gross revenue is higher from what he's saying and that 120k is net?
bmaier··on Starting a Business in a Shrinking Industry
"...try to be fearful when others are greedy and greedy only when others are fearful." - Warren Buffett
bmaier··on [dead]
Oh god, here goes the procession of posts like this, everybody off the cliff before its too late.

Wanna make the quality of the community better? Submit better things, be more selective about your upmods, make better comments but dont flood it with dramatic I'm leaving posts.

bmaier··on Strange new spam attack on News.YC
Entrecard is a startup from the kid who made that million dollar wiki gimmick I believe. From what I read it wouldnt surprise me if he was spamming news.yc himself
bmaier··on Ever wonder what fonts Web 2.0 companies use in their logo?
Whatever it is, it probably was done by http://www.wilsonminer.com , send him an email
bmaier··on Growth vs. Size
Whats amazing is that before the internet you would have never even considered questions like this so early and immediately in the life cycle of a business.
bmaier··on Ask YC: Which companies/products have the best UI/UX?
google definitely, igoogle not quite as much but still good
bmaier··on My little online color tool. Hope this is helpful.
I think the best part about this is the fact that it lets you see the apparent color when displayed on the page not just the color by itself.
bmaier··on Ask YC: Whats your Twitter handle?

bmaier··on The saddest, stupidest sentence I've ever read
Ah but even so they're selling most of that merchandise at shows that people are coming to, even if the ticket sales aren't raking in the cash for them
bmaier··on The saddest, stupidest sentence I've ever read
He mistakes a mistaken analogy. The poets that he names are not selling out live readings and the sculptors are not putting on live creation events.

When it comes to music, yes, a concert tour is more profitable for the artist than their recorded music is. This is the one difference between musicians and other artists.

While I don't completely agree with Arrington, I do believe that this blog post calling it the saddest stupidest sentence ever is guilty of the same sensationalism that Arrington is.

bmaier··on Informal Chicago Meetup
I believe we have the whole top floor to ourselves. I think Phil Tadros of metroproper might stop by (if you know what he looks like) since it is his shop. Other than that, we'll probably be taking up the space towards the the front of the top floor, its not very big up there so we should be pretty easy to spot.
bmaier··on Ask YC: What are the top 3 websites you frequently visit?
http://Coudal.com http://gapersblock.com http://twitter.com

Its amazing what ideas can come from sites that aren't about technology. Its important to get outside the bubble from time to time

bmaier··on I'm giving away my startup idea to a deserving Haxor
both of them are pretty clunky. I'm generally not a fan of the open source clones though it is nice that scuttle has most of del.icio.us api functionality
bmaier··on Chicago Startups Visualized
Yeah, I was kinda tired of having to rely on things like the may report and freswater venture has been defunct for more than a year now so I thought I'd start it back up.

Its not all that hard to keep updated. If chicago's startup community is ever going to become good there needs to be a way to keep track of it all

bmaier··on I'm giving away my startup idea to a deserving Haxor
I should note that if anyone is interested in doing a startup around this, let me know: office at unchartedventures dot com
bmaier··on I'm giving away my startup idea to a deserving Haxor
Want a real idea that would be easy to implement and would appeal to the masses? Write a del.icio.us clone and do recipe bookmarking so people like my mom can keep track of all the recipes she sees all over the web and people looking for good recipes could just browse the popular feed.
