blurbleblurble··on Large language models develop novel social biases through adaptive exploration
"we demonstrate that LLMs can spontaneously develop novel social biases about artificial demographic groups even when no inherent differences exist"

It's almost as though bias-making machinery is embedded in the texts these things are trained on.

It's wild to see quantitative researchers catching even just a glimpse of what culture/media/literary theorists have been swimming in for decades.

blurbleblurble··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
Absolutely agree. Perverse incentives are at play propped up by the the big lie that these tools somehow are magically separate from us. They are not. There's an accountability gap right now that's fueling resentment ripe for misdirection. Not only that, these big AI companies are paying influencers to further this and politicians are gobbling it up hook, line and sinker

Since when was surveillance disconnected from civil rights? Since never.
blurbleblurble··on Illinois just passed a law that puts Linux on the hook for age verification
With all due respect I sense that you might be neglecting the big picture. Unjust laws, slopped out illegal orders and an extreme activist court are all in play.

blurbleblurble··on Elevated Errors for Opus 5
This thing has been having a constant crisis in self confidence and refuses to work on goals as a result. It's also been leaving stuff broken and uncommitted, which is a mess. I tried updating the harness and it seems to have helped a bit but overall I'm not impressed.

This is completely underrated news imo
blurbleblurble··on Qwen-AgentWorld: Language World Models for General Agents
This might be pretty big. One of my biggest frustrations with smaller models (especially MoE) is their failure to track workflow state at a high level. I'm constantly reminding them what we decided on or asking them to revisit, and reminding them eats context.

Seems like this might make that a lot less painful. And if not off the bat, with some minimal tuning or even just good prompting.
