bluetidepro··on No Man's Sky Cosmos
NMS is one of the best comeback stories in gaming, but I'll keep dying on this hill: the game is an ocean wide and a puddle deep. I come back after every major update and still find myself bored after a few hours. Adding new content is great, but I'd rather see them spend that time on UI, UX, and tutorials. It still feels like there are rough bones under all that content. The UI isn't intuitive and badly needs modernizing. It feels so clunky after all these updates.
bluetidepro··on Windows 10 quietly gets one more year of support and updates
Gaming support for Linux still isn’t 100% there like Windows. It’s still about a 50/50 chance a popular AAA or indie pc game supports Linux.
bluetidepro··on Valve releases Steam Controller CAD files under Creative Commons license
Right, they're saying you only see the side of the resellers, you have no idea the number of people who purchased it to keep it (like many of us in the thread). So in reality you may be only seeing less than 1% of stock for resell and not the 99% that are just buying it to keep it like normal. It's just confirmation bias that you assume everyone is buying to resell it cause that's all you're able to see.

I don't fully understand this narrative that is going around about scalpers and the controller. So many people online are claiming it was only scalpers who were able to purchase one. I am also not a scalper (as someone else said), and was able to purchase one. We don't know how many they actually had in stock in total but let's say it's around 30K, from what I have searched on eBay and other reselling sites it would only seem like less than 1% of the stock is being sold by resellers/scalpers. I think it was just a high demand product. I know scalpers are a problem in much of the entertainment industry right now, but it's also becoming a scape goat for anything you just weren't able to buy yourself. It's quite annoying and getting old fast.

It’s obviously a meme website, the meme is more funny when the number isn’t high. Anyone looking for actual accurate info would go to the real status page.
bluetidepro··on We haven't seen the worst of what gambling and prediction markets will do
> I'm in senior leadership, and have made it clear that anyone who has worked on these products should not be hired.

Can't say I agree with that specific take (and find it a bit naive to be honest), unless you're also not hiring anyone from companies like Amazon, Meta, and all the other tech companies that have also ruined/preyed on society in their own way just as much as any gambling app has.

bluetidepro··on We pwned X, Vercel, Cursor, and Discord through a supply-chain attack
Slightly related, as someone who doesn’t engage in this type of work, I’m curious about the potential risks associated with discovering, testing, and searching for security bugs. While it’s undoubtedly positive that this individual ultimately became a responsible person and disclosed the information, what if they hadn’t? Furthermore, on Discord’s side, what if they were unaware of this person and encountered someone attempting to snoop on this information, mistakenly believing them to be up to no good? Has there been cases where the risk involved wasn’t justified by the relatively low $4k reward? Or any specific companies you wouldn’t want to do this with because of a past incident with them?
bluetidepro··on The Cities Skylines Paradox: how the sequel stumbled
> The Paradox Mods platform will remain the only officially supported mod hub, so deep code mods akin to CS1’s may never return.

As someone else pointed out, this is false. I have also created mods for both CS2/CS1 and I would even say it's the opposite. In my opinion, CS2 allows for even deeper code mods because they have mod tooling built right into the game unlike CS1. The host of the mods (Steam Workshop vs Paradox Mods) doesn't change anything related to mod capabilities.

> ...its long-time partner Colossal Order announced a quiet but monumental shift.

Ah yes, "quiet", like how it's been posted on every CS2 social media account, and blasted in every possible space of CS2. Haha Absolutely nothing "quiet" about it.

bluetidepro··on Microsoft is plugging more holes that let you use Windows 11 without MS account
For majority that want to switch but can’t yet, gaming is the biggest pillar still very far behind. Many popular games (and game related apps) don’t work on Linux, sadly. I don’t know if it’s ever going to change either because of it being a chicken or egg scenario where they don’t want to spend the time supporting it cause it’s not enough users, but it’s also not enough users cause it’s not supported.
bluetidepro··on GPT-5: Key characteristics, pricing and system card
Agreed. All it takes is a simple reply of “you’re wrong.” to Claude/ChatGPT/etc. and it will start to crumble on itself and get into a loop that hallucinates over and over. It won’t fight back, even if it happened to be right to begin with. It has no backbone to be confident it is right.
bluetidepro··on Vanilla JavaScript support for Tailwind Plus
I think you are confused? Tailwind is already free and open source? These are just components they sale that are pre-made to save you time. It doesn’t take away much at all from the full experience?
bluetidepro··on Ozzy Osbourne has died
FWIW, no source on the cause yet. Only thing we know is from their official statement here:

> It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis

bluetidepro··on My experience with Claude Code after two weeks of adventures
I wish there was a Max trial (while on Pro) to test if this was the case or not. Even if it was just a 24 hour trial. Max is an expensive trigger to pull, and hope it just solves this.
bluetidepro··on My experience with Claude Code after two weeks of adventures
How are people using this without getting rate limited non stop? I pay for Claude Pro and I sometimes can’t go more than 5 prompts in an hour without it saying I need to wait 4 hours for a cooldown. I feel like I’m using it wrong or something, it’s such a frustrating experience. How do you give it any real code context without using all your tokens so quickly?

bluetidepro··on AI is turning Apple into a "loser"
> The bottom line: Apple has 24 to 36 months before it has its own AOL moment, according to Brian Mulberry, client portfolio manager at Zacks Investment.

That quote alone is hilarious. What a low effort article.

bluetidepro··on US Court nullifies FTC requirement for click-to-cancel
Slightly related: For all the crap the iOS store gets for many (good) reasons, this is one reason I actually LOVE to buy subscriptions through iOS/Apple when that option is available for a platform. They have the most simple cancellation process to manage all your subscriptions in one place. Sometimes it costs a $1 or more to buy through iOS but it's worth it to easily cancel without any hoops.
bluetidepro··on Show HN: Trying to eat better? I built a nutrional assistant
Depends how it’s actually used. Again, without more context on the home page it’s hard tell. There is a chance you can use it in a way where you can feed it vague non identifying info and still get use from it.
bluetidepro··on TSA to end shoes-off policy for airport security screening
I will believe it when I see it. Most TSA agents don’t follow the official rules, and seem to just do whatever they feel like on any given day. I’ve had to take my shoes off for even TSA Pre which shouldn’t even happen already.
bluetidepro··on Show HN: Trying to eat better? I built a nutrional assistant
Seems like a cool idea at a very high level, but I feel like the homepage needs a lot more context than what it has. How it works, what it does, best way to use it, etc.

Also, just a heads up that the chat window is a bit broken on mobile. It has some weird scroll hijacking that breaks chats.

bluetidepro··on Being fat is a trap
There is also something to be said about doing exercise at a gym/class and seeing other healthy/fit people. It gives you practical evidence right in front of your eyes on how you COULD look. As well as likely becoming friends with people in those spaces that also have healthy habits. I have always found that motivation to be very strong.

bluetidepro··on TikTok Is Harming Children at an Industrial Scale
Related: I pay for YouTube premium and there is still no way to hide/ignore Shorts in the entire platform or any of their apps. It’s infuriating, and a feature that is badly needed. It should be there for free but at the very least allow premium paying users to hide that garbage.
bluetidepro··on But what if I want a faster horse?
Think of it this way, the less time they spend actually WATCHING content, the longer they will pay their monthly service because they have this massive "watch list" that they never actually get through. They just keep paying month after month never getting through a backlog that they inspire to watch. I don't agree with it, but it makes sense to me. If you can never feel satisfied, you will pay over and over again chasing that satisfaction of watching "everything."

Many people will pay Netflix for years hardly watching content for months just because the convenience factor of not having to subscribe/unsubscribe when they know a new season of X will be out in the next year. It's wild to me, but people are lazy. So again, the more you keep them from actually watching the content and realizing they are "done", the longer they likely just keep their subscription active. Get them to add as much potential content they want to watch to a never ending backlog watch list.

bluetidepro··on Polypane, The browser for ambitious web developers
I really wish the pricing model offered some sort of lifetime purchase. This seems great but I don’t think I could justify the monthly/yearly cost.
bluetidepro··on Lego says it wants to start to bring video game development in-house
My free idea, as others have put theirs, is why hasn’t Lego made their “Minecraft.” It goes hand in hand with Lego. Blocks. Creative. Building infinite things. Whimsical. Etc.

The Lego/Fortnite integrations are the closest we have to this but even those are far from what it could be.
