Glad you find it useful.

"The Egyptians pride themselves on being the most ancient people in the world. In their authentic annals ... one may read that since they have been in existence, the course of the stars has changed direction four times, and that the sun has set twice in that part of the sky where it rises today."
bluestix··on Is Apple becoming an evil empire?
Becoming?
bluestix··on Ask HN: Startups in Suburbia?
Telecommute FTW.
bluestix··on What if everyone is solving the wrong problem?
Most startups I see are solving first world problems.

Ignoring the fact that there are billions of starving people.

bluestix··on Ask HN: Freelancer? Seeking freelancer? (July 2012)
Since most of the people on here are seeking remote work try this:

bluestix··on Ask HN: When shall we have an alternate to Google Search?
As soon as the CIA lets other companies start using the seekrit computer technology they let Google use.
bluestix··on One Week in SF...what to do, where to go, who to see?
Walk up and down University Ave in PA and bang on VC's doors.

They love that.

bluestix··on Tesla CEO Predicts More Than Half of New Cars to be Electric in 20 Years
Would have been sooner if Teslas engineers wouldn't have died in that plane crash.

Life is dangerous when you try to free the slaves with technology.

bluestix··on Can someone please explain why some people don't like RSS feeds?
I love RSS.

I like it so much I built an RSS search engine.

http://rssident.com

It's still a work in progress but I will be adding several new features soon.

For any of you that need jobs this is an easy way to find them:

http://rssident.com/mash/?t=job&e=java

http://rssident.com/mash/?t=job&e=ruby

http://rssident.com/mash/?t=job&e=php

Or by individual feed:

http://rssident.com/feeds/?t=job&e=java

Right now it's only indexing feeds I added but soon anyone will able to add whatever feeds they want.

bluestix··on What is the best place you've worked at?
Can't upvote this enough.
bluestix··on Ask HN: How do I find the right hacker to help me build our startup's platform?
There are about 20 posts a day like this in Craigslist job feeds.

Working for free is stupid and working for 'equity' is like working for a jar of farts.

Hats off to the hardcore.
bluestix··on Dear Hacker, 95% of your peers have chosen this API instead...
This would be great if the best frameworks and APIs were the most popular. But they rarely are.

Most people are too lazy to learn which APIs are actually the best.

bluestix··on Blazing fast node.js: performance tips from LinkedIn
Why would a company that uses Java even consider Node.js?

Java is hands down faster.

I have never seen a benchmark that showed Node coming even close to Java performance.

bluestix··on Node.js for Java developers
Why would Java devs care about Node.js?

That's like taking several large steps backwards.

bluestix··on [dead]
More likely by charging $6400/month for 68GB of RAM.

That's less then $100/GB/Month.

With low prices like that it must be hard for people to resist.

bluestix··on [dead]
Why do people use Heroku? I never understood the appeal.

Oh.. because they have a good graphic designer.

Lol.

"Forget servers, instances, and VMs. Focus on processes."

If that doesn't raise some red flags for you then you get what you deserve.

bluestix··on Ask HN: Best hardware for Ubuntu?
I have Ubuntu 12 running on a Toshiba laptop. Runs fine.

Toshiba's keyboards kind of suck now but otherwise they are pretty solid.

bluestix··on Amazon RDS failure - data has been lost
For any constant load applications dedicated servers are definitely much cheaper then ec2.

Amazon wins for APIs and convenience but not for price.

bluestix··on Hosting for Java Web App?
hetzner.de

There's no VAT if you are outside Germany.

10x the performance of 'cloud' VMs at the same price.

bluestix··on San Francisco Earthquake Aftermath (1906)
This is why putting most of VC and most startups in one geographic location is stupid.

People in the bay area have a low sense of self preservation.

I hope all those landfill lofts come with life jackets.

Bay water is cold.
