blondie9x··on Thefts, Always an Issue for Retailers, Become More Brazen, Goods Sold Online
“Amazon, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, Etsy — all of those are utilized by illicit online sellers, and they’re allowed to get away with it because the illicit sellers are allowed to operate with anonymity on the internet.”

These sites are enabling crime. Why do they not make sellers register with identification and ask for proof of item ownership or source information when selling?

blondie9x··on Stripe hiring issues make some lose job offers
There is a lot of cheating on interviews that is happening due to questions being posted before hands on Shanghai and Beijing based websites like leetcode and 1point3acres. Interviews are broken down round by round with very specific answers and guidelines so people can get an upper hand over other candidates who do not have access to these answers. Hopefully Stripe is detecting it and rescinding offers. Stripe is the number one searched company on 1point3acres.
blondie9x··on There is currently no way to drive between Vancouver and the rest of Canada
The problem is right now governments and enterprise is mostly focused on fixing supply side of the climate change and sustainability problem. Not enough is being done or discussed to reduce demand. Focusing on consumption changes is just as important as focusing on supply issue IMO.
blondie9x··on There is currently no way to drive between Vancouver and the rest of Canada
This is why the border needs to remain open at all times. We need vital traffic to continue flowing smoothly.
blondie9x··on There is currently no way to drive between Vancouver and the rest of Canada
Exactly. As people over consume and the planet's climate continues to become more erratic and destabilized infrastructure disasters will increase.

blondie9x··on Zillow to stop flipping homes, loses more than $550M, lays off 25% of staff
Does anyone know where most of these homes were purchased? This kind of practice where companies buy large quantities of houses should be banned. It isn't fair for first time or second time home buyers, non-corporate buyers essentially.

blondie9x··on GM tells some Bolt owners to park 50 feet away from other cars
Battery scooters, bikes, skateboards, wakeboards, hoverboards, one wheels. I know these make getting around easier but we have a huge obesity problem on our hands. Why can't we help people exercise a bit more and reduce the amount of batteries we are using as substitutes for burning calories?

As for electric cars we need to make sure the software enforces safe charging practices. If there is a safety issue and the software on the vehicles doesn't prevent that behavior it should regardless of features being lost.

blondie9x··on California aims to ban recycling symbols on things that aren’t recyclable
These sort of policies are why California leads the world.
blondie9x··on Colorado county's voting machines banned after security breach
Unreal. Because voting is secure the conspiracy theorist decided to create a conspiracy and potential security threat by releasing passwords online for the system and allowing people in to the back door. How pathetic. You were that hard up for a conspiracy? They should vet these people more and allow less individual access. I’ve seen some systems where 2 or more people of opposite political parties have to open the facilities at the same time. Maybe try that?
blondie9x··on It’s official: July was Earth’s hottest month on record
Lower population by encouraging smaller families and no limits on birth control. Lower consumption through minimalism and right to repair and loner lasting products. These policies must be implemented yesterday.
blondie9x··on Siberia’s wildfires are bigger than all the world’s other blazes combined
Our only hope is reduction. Population and consumption reduction until we flatten the curve. Unfortunately nothing else is working and geoengineering trade offs are too much risk. Reducing consumption and population has less risk and immediate impact.
blondie9x··on Climate change: IPCC report is 'code red for humanity'
The only way to stop this catastrophe is global population reduction and consumption limitations.

Nothing so far. No effort by anyone has flattened the curve. CO2, CH4, SF6, and N20 are all consistently growing linearly with human consumption. https://gml.noaa.gov/ccgg/trends/

We have to do everything possible to flatten the curve and that will take sacrifice and changes today.

blondie9x··on PC can't be shipped to CA, CO, HI, OR, VT or WA due to power consumption
That is just shifting consumption but there are tradeoffs to that as well. Make sure you are mindful of the curves. Exponential year over year rise in greenhouse gas emissions in CO2 CH4 SF6 N20. Renewables help. But not enough. Lowering consumption is the main way to stop climate change.
blondie9x··on PC can't be shipped to CA, CO, HI, OR, VT or WA due to power consumption
All venues need to be examined. Some with more intensity than others. But you must still look into solutions.
blondie9x··on PC can't be shipped to CA, CO, HI, OR, VT or WA due to power consumption
There are two ways to solve climate change. Lower the population or lower consumption. Efficiency gains such as these are a way to lower consumption and we should be continue to focus on regulations that drive towards lower consumption. Population control is still largely taboo so lowering consumption is the only way out of climate change at this point.

blondie9x··on Bezos donates $100M each to CNN contributor Van Jones and chef Jose Andres
Everyone knows that if Earth climate destabilizes then life on Mars or the Moon is science fiction. We need the Earth's climate to stabilize and that requires lowering consumption and population.
blondie9x··on Study: Global plant growth surging alongside carbon dioxide (2017)
People never ever forget that all of this is not in anyway what so ever has slowed down the exponential increase in greenhouse gases. SF6 CH4 CO2 N2O all growing year over year near record levels.

Human consumption and population growth needs to level flatline. Now.

blondie9x··on EU unveils sweeping climate change plan
Governments of this planet are not moving quickly enough on climate change with small incremental changes over time. However, people and organizations who champion these efforts can pressure governments to drive faster change.

Therefore to protect all of humanity globally now and for the future of our posterity I am committing to the following. I pledge to limit eating red meat. I will restrict intake of cows and lambs etc. If I choose to have children, I will have 2 or less. I will try to use cycling or mass transit options whenever possible and to participate in efforts to expand transit. I will restrict flying to only when necessary and try to limit flying to only when no other choice is available. If I do fly I will try to offset all emissions. I will try my utmost to conserve energy and minimize use of heating and cooling appliances. I will try my best to limit energy use to renewable sources when I have the choice. When I cannot choose I will fight for the ability to have this choice. I will try to help those close to me understand these choices and the need for those able, to also join the pledge. I will only consume what I need. I will not perpetuate extravagance and will only support companies who champion sustainable efforts. I will do my best to strive for and support sustainable and minimalist technology. I will stay involved in the public discourse on environmental issues and stay engaged on efforts to mitigate climate change.

You overlooked that the warming is causing the soil moisture to decline which is causing the trees to die off.
blondie9x··on As climate warms, a rearrangement of world’s plant life looms
You're wrong. They rot from the inside as they die. The soil moisture is falling and the trees can't store enough water. The insides die first. Stress comes from climate change. Imagine in extreme conditions with high variance in water availability or temperature shifts how an organism will survive. This is part of the larger Holocene extinction humans are causing now. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holocene_extinction
