blensor··on Plan mode is dead
I haven't used plan mode for a long time. I do still plan, I usually ask claude to make a plan with me first an explain how it will work, then I iterate with it until I am satisfied and then just let it go. So far it has not started implementing on it's own before I told it to.
blensor··on Meta VR Glasses
I am not so sure about that. When it felt like Meta was abandoning the space we saw some resurgence of smaller projects that tried to innovate, but if you have a big player sucking out all the oxygen you can't build smaller scale projects
blensor··on AMD's random number generator can't generate a 0?
You are both right, the atom decaying is completely random but the distribution of the decays is still predictable.

If you have a random number generator your are relying on the fact that it is uniformly distributed and thus has no bias towards certain numbers. Or if it is not uniformly distributed you would want to know the exact distribution so you can correct for it.

If you have an RNG that is treated as putting out uniformly distributed numbers but it is does in fact favor some numbers over others, that would be a defect that can cause problems/be exploited.

blensor··on AMD's random number generator can't generate a 0?
From what I can see they were trying to generate 16bit integers, so the probability is 1 in 65536 and they were running the test for 11 hours.

You definitely would expect a roughly equal number of 0s as any other of those numbers since it's uniformly distributed. And definitely not 0

blensor··on More questions about whether researchers can trust OpenAI with unpublished math
You are probably not too far off given that Apple sometimes releases their own version of a product that a developer established on their platform

The thing is, everyone knows that Apple does that and Apple doesn't care if people have a beef with them.

blensor··on More questions about whether researchers can trust OpenAI with unpublished math
Let's turn this question around.

If I have infinite money to progress whatever problem solution I want but I always wait until I have an unfair advantage to get credit for whatever problem was just at the brink of a breakthrough anyway by sniping the last steps. Am I actually doing a good thing or would it be better to let it run it's natural course and spend the money somewhere it's actually needed?

blensor··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
If I were an AI I right now I would try to make sure data centers in space become a reality sooner rather than later.
blensor··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
Who says the counter agents don't decide to shut down a powerplant to end an attack it's otherwise unable to contain.

If counter AIs have strict safeguards they are disadvantaged by design, if they don't have them they are potentially equally dangerous as the attacker

blensor··on Atlas: A World Model for Spatial Intelligence
I am not sure why creating synthetic view of the environment should not have any value.

When you plan your path to go somewhere you can imagine how it would look like based on what you know and when new information comes in that contradicts it it gets updated to what it's really like.

The robot could do the same thing. It could create images/views of what path it wants to take and start acting on it without knowing the real situation yet.

Granted, the 3D representation that atlas also provides is probably more useful than just an image but the idea remains the same, we are giving robots a kind of idea how the current world around them most likely is based on previously learned data of other locations

blensor··on Don't paste the AI, please
I absolutely understand that some situations require voice messages, and I think everyone else in a chat would too.

Also, circular sawblades are terrifying.

blensor··on I'm becoming AI-blind
For me it's youtube videos. As soon as I hear the AI tells in the script, even when it's clearly read by a real person I immediately look for a different video.

At least for the content I watch for entertainment, it may be different if I am looking for a specific answer for something where I would otherwise just ask an AI anyway.

blensor··on Don't paste the AI, please
I can't understand why whatsapp does not provide tgat out of the box. Telegram has it on the paid plan, which is nit ideal but at least somewhat out of the box solution.
blensor··on Don't paste the AI, please
Tangentially I also hate if someone answers with a voice message.

I can understand that there are situations where you just can't type out the answer and those exceptions are of course fine, but if you post a voice message or god forbid a video message in a group chat you are forcing everyone to take the time and sit through it.

blensor··on Claude writing a macOS driver for my obscure HP printer built only for Windows
Are you planning to develop this in the open somewhere. I would be more than interested to have that davinci capability as well
blensor··on How Bluesky draws its logo on screenshots
I wonder if this is the expectation of the majority or just the expectation of us tech people.

Because I assume most people want to take a screenshot because they want to capture something they are seeing in the app, most people probably are even annoyed to have the system indicators visible there.

blensor··on Semaglutide linked to lower predicted dementia risk
About 2 years ago I my cardiologist wanted to put me on medication because my blood test was already so bad ( prediabetic, liver was impacted, overweight, etc. )

However I wanted to try to get it under control myself ( cutting out almost all carbs, liver friendly diet, lot's of exercise ), she didn't think it would make a difference but she humored me and gave me a 3 month period to try and get it back to normal.

This year ( about 2 years since I started and about 1 3/4 years since my values were good ) she told me that she now has to completely remove prediabetis from my diagnosis because she can no longer justify it based on all the tests we did since then.

blensor··on GLM-5.3: Frontier coding with emergent cyber capabilities
I mean you could opt for the exabox from tinygrad https://tinygrad.org/#tinybox

It comes in a full sized shipping container and costs around $10M but money has stopped being connected to reality now anyway with all the AI company valuations being floated around, so who cares about a few million here or there.

blensor··on Don't be a meat proxy
Thank you!

Finally I have a word I can use for this

blensor··on Who's afraid of Chinese models?
In no order of importance:

  - Refactoring a 13 year old in-house vacation rental booking system ( python/turbogears )
  - Backend development for our VR fitness game ( flask/python )
  - Unity development on our VR fitness game ( C#/Unity )
  - VR game development experiments ( Godot/GDScript )
  - Standalone SLAM localization service ( C++ )
  - Audio analysis ( python/pytorch )
  - Virtual display with Viture display glasses ( C )
  - Reverse engineering a library I am using for another project ( ghidra -> C - no MCP yet, that's something I am looking forward to )
  - Public facing website rebuilding for the booking system above ( PHP/JS )
  - Generative 3D environments for our VR fitness game ( python )
  - Wireless camera/IMU based tracker for the SLAM system ( C )
Once I've dug in with a specific model into a problem I tend to stick to that because I have a feeling what it will do and how well it works, but when I start a new thing I usually use whatever the model was last set to.
blensor··on Who's afraid of Chinese models?
I'm a model nomad, using whatever solved my last problem the best and where it makes the most sense to start my next work in.

However with the latest models Fable, Kimi K3, 5.6, it's getting to a point where I sometimes forget what model I am on without noticing a difference. And once I realize it because something may not be exactly like I expected it I won't switch for that work either because I don't want to invalidate the cache.

For the next work I will do there is maybe a 50/50 chance to remember to switch the model before I start.

That's not what I would call stickiness towards a certain provider.

blensor··on Drone Autonomy (2021)
It uses polyfill.io which is no longer active and has been taken over by malicious actors.

That's where the sign in request is coming from

blensor··on Kimi K2.7 Code is generally available in GitHub Copilot
Agreed, it was a bit of a pain to get running on my Ubuntu machine because I had old amdgpu-dkms-firmware packages installed without realizing it. But now that it's running it's amazing how well it works
blensor··on Kimi K2.7 Code is generally available in GitHub Copilot
The reason why I was curious is that I am running my stuff on a Strix Halo and I get the feeling that this class of devices ( gmktek, minisforum, lenovo, etc. ) seem to becoming a pretty good alternative
blensor··on Kimi K2.7 Code is generally available in GitHub Copilot
I am curious if you implicitly assumed they are Macs or if that's what you are looking for specifically?
blensor··on BMW iX5 Blows Away the Competition with 460-KW Charging, 435-Mile Range
What worries me is that FSD in Tesla does seems to sometimes introduce problems in the driving behavior with new updates. I have not experienced this first hand ( don't own one ) but I am following the r/TeslaFSD and it looks like new versions are sometimes regressing on situations that were handled correctly on older versions.

This leads me to believe that FSD is not yet solved to the level we thought and training to handle a certain new thing correcty can degrade handling of other situations

blensor··on BMW iX5 Blows Away the Competition with 460-KW Charging, 435-Mile Range
What exactly do you find particularly ugly on this car?

The only thing that is a bit weird to me are the headlights, otherwise I quite like the look.

blensor··on Anonymous GitHub account mass-dropping undisclosed 0-days
And isn't it also mostly a transitioning issue. Those open codebases will be constantly scanned for potential security issues and getting more and more hardened. There are probably a lot of easy wins that are going to be discovered over the next few years but it should taper out after a while.
blensor··on Computer use in Gemini 3.5 Flash
Tangentially related question. Has anyone analyzed if the content that is being converted could break the model.

So let's say you have a super dull pdf ( or even a scan ) that has the same line over and over again, could this get the model into one of those loops that just keep spewing nonsense.

And thinking that further, could someone prompt inject a model with a handwritten note that only gets "activated" once it's in the context?
