Not really that much of a game but falling notes and with standard MIDI support is Synthesia.

blensor··on The new skill in AI is not prompting, it's context engineering
Just yesterday I was thinking if we need a code comment system that separates intentional comments from ai note/thoughts comments when working in the same files.

I don't want to delete all thoughts right away as it makes it easier for the AI to continue but I also don't want to weed trhough endless superfluous comments

blensor··on Transmitting data via ultrasound without any special equipment
GGWave is a really great tool and does support audible and inaudible versions.

We are using it in XRWorkout to automatically sync up ingame recordings with external recordings, we are using the audible version instead of the ultrasound version so a human can sync it up too if they are using a regular video editor instead of doing it automatically in our own tools

Here is an example how that sounds https://xrworkout.nyc3.digitaloceanspaces.com/data/video/036...

When it becomes free and much more energy efficient, sure, but look at how much veo 3 costs.
blensor··on FedFlix — Public Domain Stock Footage Library
If the prompt is saved alongside with it then it should be manageable.

Or at least if platforms would show similar results you can use before generating something new.

For all the first frame/last frame video creations it's probably not feasable but for pure text to video it could work

blensor··on FedFlix — Public Domain Stock Footage Library
I meant as a resource for others to use, like shutterstock and artlist but solely for AI generated b roll to be used by others.

If you generate videos that are then sitting in some walled garden why not make them available for others to use.

I am pretty sure there are endless hours of similar videos in all accounts, and instead of recreating it from scratch every single time why not check with a public database first if there is already something for you to use

blensor··on FedFlix — Public Domain Stock Footage Library
Tangential thought, but someone should make a library for freely available AI generated videos and songs.

There is so much energy wasted for generating and most of the time you aren't getting exactly what you wanted anyway

blensor··on Show HN: DIY virtual HDMI monitor using "AR" glasses
I think they suit bigger heads as well is because the hinge on the stems can go slightly beyond 90°
blensor··on Show HN: DIY virtual HDMI monitor using "AR" glasses
So far I haven't had any issue but I haven't done long tests yet. I'm using BredOS not their official OrangePI images though
blensor··on Show HN: DIY virtual HDMI monitor using "AR" glasses
I haven't found a way to do it on the phone unfortunately which is really annoying.

You could in theory use the approach I posted here and use a USB to HDMI adapter to connect the phone to device and it would do the same thing it does with a regular PC but that loses all the benefits of being small and portable if you have to carry around all that additional stuff

blensor··on Show HN: DIY virtual HDMI monitor using "AR" glasses
I didn't know that, I just wonder how the kindle with light works though. Is that light coming from the front too?
blensor··on Show HN: DIY virtual HDMI monitor using "AR" glasses
If I had XReal I could look into that too, it's probably pretty similar to how it works for the Viture.

Regarding the HDMI on Quest 3, I believe it was sometime last year when they made that possible https://www.meta.com/help/quest/1350679463006443

blensor··on Show HN: DIY virtual HDMI monitor using "AR" glasses
you still would need a backlight but it's an interesting idea
blensor··on Show HN: DIY virtual HDMI monitor using "AR" glasses
now I'm intrigued, any hints?
blensor··on Show HN: DIY virtual HDMI monitor using "AR" glasses
Spot on. And yes expanding it to other glasses ( which are popping up quite a lot recently ) would for sure be possible
blensor··on Show HN: DIY virtual HDMI monitor using "AR" glasses
Yes that's correct, and it could be expanded to other features yes, one thing I've been mulling over is mult monitor input which you don't even get on devices that support what I did here natively
blensor··on Show HN: DIY virtual HDMI monitor using "AR" glasses
With the viture I have the problem that the bottom of the screen is almost always not visible. I initially used the accessibility feature that let's me zoom into the desktop with mouse follow moving the viewport but that gets old quickly, which is one reason why I started that project.

I'm also planning to add other "display" modes like a curved monitor and in theory we could connect multiple monitors using several hdmi capture devices but that's probably even less useful

blensor··on Show HN: DIY virtual HDMI monitor using "AR" glasses
Not disagreeing with the resolution but I assume for most last-gen use cases it didn't make much sense because you also need to be able to drive that somehow and you can be happy that you get a 2 Lane display port interface up until the more recent phones.

So if you have high res displays that no one can realistically use for the intended mobile cinema use case then you are wasting money and energy

blensor··on Show HN: DIY virtual HDMI monitor using "AR" glasses
I have to look into that, thanks.

I've been thinking about combining it with our work on the reverse engineered HTC Vive Ultimate Tracker stuff here https://youtube.com/shorts/U4vhEPQw-Uo to get 6DOF

But realistically I ( and nobody else ) won't strap the tracker to my head all the time

blensor··on Show HN: DIY virtual HDMI monitor using "AR" glasses
If you connect the glasses to your computer you get a fixed screen in front of your eyes (like those display glasses back in the day that promised to give you a huge screen), which is fine for video viewing but if you want to use it for productivity you want to be able to look at certain parts of your screen vs. straining your eyes to glimpse the edges.

That's where this comes in, it allows you to look around the virtual screen with the added bonus that you can connect it to almost anything and behave the same not just your PC

I'm actually a bit jealous about the XReals. Back when I bought the Viture I wanted to buy XReal first but they had such strange shipping policies ( they shipped to every county around me but not to Austria ) so I went for the Viture.
blensor··on Simpler Backoff
Is this meant as a joke or a serious argument?

I personally find the original code just as if not more readable than the static lookup table and I don't need to count out the elements if I want to know how often it will retry.

But more importantly, changing the max retries is trivial in the original code and tedious in the static lookup table, especially for bigger changes.

Also, this is something you most likely want to make configurable to adapt to certain scenarios which is not possible with a static table

There are more reasons against it but those are the the main ones that jump at me right away

I believe the population that prefers digital privacy is only a small subset of the population that wants toilet privacy
blensor··on First American pope elected and will be known as Pope Leo XIV
I think you are overestimating that.

Yes the whole world is somewhat curious who the president is but especially in timezones where it's inconvenient to follow that it's more a "we'll read it in the news later" thing.

The fact that a new pope has been elected is an information is information you don't need to look for because it's announced through one of the oldest public announencement systems ( the church bells )

blensor··on First American pope elected and will be known as Pope Leo XIV
I think that gets close since you can hear them from the reaction around you, but I don't think it's a equally distributed. You may have regions where the fans are very vocal but you also have a lot of regions where people don't care all that much especially if you are in a region that got eliminated in an early round
blensor··on First American pope elected and will be known as Pope Leo XIV
What I was thinking is that a billion people all around the globe got an involuntary information upload all at roughly the same time.

Being on the street hearing the bells and recognizing what it meant while a huge number of people all around the globe have the same realization at the same time feels somehow incredibly connecting, and not even necessarily at a religious level.

blensor··on First American pope elected and will be known as Pope Leo XIV
I wonder if there is any other event in recent history that is communicated as quickly to as many people as the fact that a new pope has been elected.

I was out on the streets when the church bells started ringing here in Vienna as must have all around the globe where there are catholic churches

blensor··on Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview
Maybe too many comments could be a good metric to check if someone just yolo accepted the result or if they actually checked if it's correct.

I don't have problems with getting lot's of comments in the output, I am just deleting it while reading what it did

blensor··on Defold: cross-platform game engine
I am rooting for Godot here because it has a human readable scene file format.

So when you have an AI agent modifying your project you can actually understand what it did, vs. the unity yaml based format that is mostly unreadable.

blensor··on You might not need WebSockets
Also MCP uses it
