I would say "fun" is overrated. We have become so focused on everything being fun that everything including fun itself has become tepid and mediocre. It is important to slog through the hard parts to cross the barrier of expert beginner. We are over downplaying the value of hard work and grit.
Say cars have near 0 casualty in northern hemisphere but occasionally fails for cars driving topsy turvy in south. If company knew about it and chooses to ignore it because of profits, yes they should be charged criminally.
Anyone knows of a comprehensive book/tutorial to learn end to end web development in dotnet. Most I have found are elementary, outdated or poor quality.
One difference with LINQ is its ubiquity. It works with database, in memory data structures, on disk files. You can use your skills/code across all the system.
An alternate setup is LTE smartwatch, tws and foldable phones. You can do almost all dumbphone tasks and some more from the watch. It can be relatively distraction free, and you can leave phone at home for swimming/jogging/workouts. Foldable will give you decent camera and tablet when you need it and can be kept in bag or far enough.
That even if True is irrelevant to discussion. Antitrust isn't mostly against monopoly, but its abuse to gain benefit in another area or uncompetitive practices to stifle potential competition.
Problem is not children having access to it. It is more parents outsourcing parenting to YouTube/TikTok or Meta. If parents still take responsibility on how much and where the child spends their time, it is no different than any other tech gadget. People are concerned about new tech since the time of Guttenberg.
Aswath Damodaran did an analysis on Meta valuation. He found out that even if all the 10s of billions being invested give 0 in terms of revenue it doesn't have much impact on its stock value and in turn companies value. So, I think it would be stupid for Zuckerberg to not invest in Metaverse unless he is missing some better opportunity.
Why is pension managed by the company, wouldn't a national pool be better? In India in the latest system, employee pays some, company adds some and from the money collected over lifetime, the pension will be given. The fund is managed by central government.
It is pretty honest guide on how to succeed at Mr. Beast productions. They have their own metrics of success which may or may not align with your morals or ideals. It is a collection of all their learnings in making the videos.
"Real democracies" is hypothetical like "Real Communism". In the Real World democracy means voice of the majority. So, if majority believes abortion should be illegal it will be.
Balkanization of the Internet is inevitable. As more and more people join it, there will be conflict between beliefs, values, and politics. Large markets like EU, India can keep companies aligned, but for smaller nations it will be easier to just selectively block global platforms and have local/compliant alternatives. China has shown it is possible and profitable.
I think idea boils down to know enough of your companies and subordinates' work and working to smell any bullshit they try to peddle. If founder does that, it trickles down as all under them will have to know enough about things below them to keep up.
In Joel Spolsky's blog about his Excel review by Bill Gates. Gates knew enough about Excel/123 and company to make sure if the person knows what he is talking about. Same can be said for 6-page memo culture of Amazon.
You'll get a second system, that searches your code against index of copyrighted code. If found say > 70% matching against some unique code, it will be flagged for rewrite. It can be automated in Copilot to simply regenerate with a different seed.
You can always track signup/paying-users ratio. Purpose of landing/pricing page is to get the users to sign-up. Unless some dark pattern or misinformation is used to confuse users into sign-up, more users is a positive thing.
