bix6··on Does Reddit have an astroturfing problem? What the data suggests
> Adding "reddit" to a knife search still gets you humans, mostly. For a couple of brands, a quarter to a third of the buying advice comes from accounts that mostly recommend that brand. Whether those are fans or paid, I do not know, and after reading their histories I lean toward fans and hold the lean loosely.

Very long write up to unconfidently say I don’t know.

bix6··on Rising sea destroys homes, erases beaches in California
Gonna be interesting when that Kelvin wave overlaps with king tide…
bix6··on Rising sea destroys homes, erases beaches in California
CA already floods at high tide so I think another 10 ft is really gonna mess stuff up. There are so many rivers that empty at sea level and a lot of roads that cross over low points that will need reworking.

bix6··on Silicon Valley 'sex assault list' with 'over 100' names circulated
Ok can we see the list? And then prosecute the people? Or it’s a secret for some reason?
bix6··on I'm tired of being on the network
This is the overwhelming feeling of our time and yet we continue on this abysmal path. What will it take?
bix6··on Geothermal heat map of US hot springs
Hey Armen how accurate is this? That’s a lot of spots to research. I read a bit about your process but you aren’t physically verifying in person so still room for significant error? Pretty cool / helpful though still, thank you!
bix6··on Passed $10M/y in revenue and investment gains this year
Is this guy for real? People pay for AI photos when Chat already does it?
bix6··on OpenAI is enlisting an influencer army to make it look 'good for the world'
> It is weird how prominent anti-AI sentiment is online and in media. It's by far the most popular and fastest growing technology in the world. So presumably people have a general favorable impression of the technology as they're engaging with the product and many are paying for it

It is popular because it’s useful but people still have unfavorable attitudes towards it in polls. It’s like Amazon. We use Amazon cuz it’s convenient but do we like the way Bezos treats his employees?

bix6··on Claude Opus 5.5
Well you see Terra is being left behind.

DOGE strikes again. Edit actually looks like it was Hegseth himself, king Testosterone.

> Staffing on civilian harm mitigation teams across the U.S. Department of Defense had also fallen by roughly 90% over recent years, shrinking to fewer than 20 people overall. Centcom’s group shrank from 10 people to one.

Edit: hilarious downvotes. Does DOGE get Elon Stan bots or something?

bix6··on GPT-6 Sol and Luna
Reasons for this?

> Also, OpenAI is just a company I'd rather support than Anthropic.

bix6··on Apple has added persistent 'ads' to iOS, and it's driving users crazy
Really? You think a luxury brand charging a subscription for heated seats, a basic add on, is inline (haha rip inline 6).
bix6··on Apple has added persistent 'ads' to iOS, and it's driving users crazy
Is BMW still doing the $20/mo for heated seats or whatever? All these companies man… not everything needs to be recurring revenue ffs.
bix6··on Wall Street Is Growing Skeptical of the Data Center Boom
Quite profitable at commodity prices? I don’t buy that. And all of them are building with debt / equity that expects high token prices?
bix6··on Fable 5 – Median thinking declined in August
So in 5 years will they lose a suit for intentionally deceiving users? Or is something baked into the ToS by now that allows them to adjust things like this?
bix6··on US troop deaths during Iran war exceed Pentagon count by at least four
We must be on different planets since America and its institutions are majority white.

> 94% of Democrats say Black people face at least some discrimination, compared with 54% of Republicans. 90% of Democrats say the same about Hispanic people, compared with 54% of Republicans. 83% of Democrats say Asian people face widespread discrimination, versus 51% of Republicans. By contrast, Republicans are far more likely than Democrats to say that White people face at least some discrimination (55% vs. 21%).

bix6··on US troop deaths during Iran war exceed Pentagon count by at least four
Yeah I’m more talking things like the census. Or the report that they skipped a month of this year (inflation, jobs, I can’t recall for certain).
bix6··on US troop deaths during Iran war exceed Pentagon count by at least four
Pretty fascinating dem vs rep split. Dems say everyone experiences racism. Reps say white people experience it.

And all the republicans will still vote red for the lying, cheating, grifting man.

All my life I have had faith in the governments reports and statistics for the most part. This admin has torn everything down and for what?

bix6··on US Military had close call after using AI for hallucinated intelligence report
My point is that they are using a similar playbook to avoid taking responsibility.
bix6··on US Military had close call after using AI for hallucinated intelligence report
Isn’t it convenient that nobody understands? How could we possibly regulate something that isn’t understood? It’s like social media all over again. We can’t be responsible for someone else’s content; it’s not us so you can’t penalize us!!
