bitmover··on Ask HN: What is the current driver of tech layoffs?
Rhino is an amazing product that I use every day. The developers are active and responsive on their forums and I’ve had feature requests and bug fixes go from forum posts to shipping in a couple weeks. You can also pick up a telephone and immediately talk to a knowledgable tech support person. It’s amazing and I wish more companies operated like McNeel.

Edit: They also do that thing that everyone says is impossible and sell perpetual licenses. Every 18 months or so they offer paid upgrades to the next version and I always buy it because the price is reasonable and they're jam packed with useful new features.

bitmover··on Ask HN: How do you manage your “family data warehouse”?
+1 for Trustworthy, it’s a really fantastic product. The app is well designed, constantly improving and the founders really seem to understand the problem they are solving.

bitmover··on Tile adds undetectable anti-theft mode with $1M fine if used for stalking
Doesn’t really help the person who was murdered after being stalked, but congrats to Tile on the new revenue stream I guess...

It’s telling that they turned the comments off.
bitmover··on Memento mori
I got it printed in gold foil behind one of my credit cards in my wallet. Just in case I get heartburn buying something frivolous. :p

bitmover··on Why DALL-E will not steal my job as an illustrator
I’m always suprised by the disdain on HN for artists, like really? Paying an artist a living wage is what’s wrong with the world today?

Do you have a source for Facebook stepping away from AR/VR? I hadn’t heard that.

bitmover··on My Instagram Hacker Changed My Life
I don’t know how they got my number. AT&T said I should have a verbal passcode one the account AFTER the damage was done. That would have been helpful for them to mention when I set up the account. Or you could buy a prepaid burner and use that.
bitmover··on My Instagram Hacker Changed My Life
A hacker stole my IG account. They found my phone number then called AT&T in the dead of night and convinced them to forward my number to a Google Voive account. Then they contacted my web host and used the number to verify it was “me”. From there they had everything they needed.

I don't understand how they can write an entire article about a radio and not include a picture. Anyway, for anyone interested: http://mmuseumm.com/pieces/srf-39fp

I'd also add make Siri better, I feel like it was barely touched in iOS 6.
bitmover··on New gaming laptop with innovative UI by Razer
Look at this gallery of product shots:

That is Apple's industrial design language. They could have made it look like anything and they chose to ape apple, that's lazy.

It also looks to have an innovative lawsuit inducing ID. Seems pretty lazy to just anodized a MacBook Pro black, swap the logo and call it a day.
bitmover··on [dead]
The first line:

"Steve Jobs is not dead. Nor is he Jesus."

They're right, Steve Jobs is absolutely not Jesus, Steve existed and has had a meaningful impact on my life.

bitmover··on Apple forces users to pay full price to redownload already bought ebooks
Sounds like a bug to me. I redownloaded eBooks I had purchased on my iPad just fine.
