binlog··on I quit OpenAI because its culture is broken
The narrative of AI safety shouldn't be controlled by the same people who caused the problem and massively profited from it. I don't understand why people are automatically treating "OpenAI" on his resume as a badge of authority. I'm not interested in buying the solution from the same person who sold me the problem. We instead need to amplify independent, unbiased voices.
binlog··on I Quit OpenAI Because Its Culture Is Broken
OpenAI was worth $29 billion three and a half years ago. A new hire who joined then is easily worth tens of millions today.
binlog··on I quit OpenAI because its culture is broken
We need a new rule that mandates every such "I am leaving <AI company> because of <concern>" post to disclose how much equity they have in the company and how much they have already cashed out. Easy to suddenly find a moral compass when you, your kids and their kids never have to worry about working for money again.

Mr Robinson if you are reading this – if you are truly concerned about AI safety share proof of donation of 100% of your OpenAI earnings and equity towards undoing the damage you have done to society during your time there.

In the absence of that this is simply a career pivot into being an AI "influencer" and/or raising money for a new scam.

binlog··on With most information hidden, the game Stratego had stumped AI until now
No, it is correct. Different versions of the game label the pieces differently, either by rank (1 is highest) or strength (10 is highest).
binlog··on Crypto Capture of Foreign Aid
Don’t need to look that far. The person in the White House is doing the same thing.
binlog··on Dots: Always-on agents
You think Zuck invented the idea of an always-on AI agent?
binlog··on DevDay 2026 Recap
Lots of good stuff flying under the radar.

- Subscription sharing is going to be huge for indie apps that don’t want to deal with token billing.

- Security scans built-in to Codex seems useful.

- Decisions API is a validation for Jev and the entire space it created.

And Zuck’s sudden interest in MMA/boxing/Jiu Jitsu as part of his “alpha male” rebranding.
binlog··on Owed a billion dollars in Nvidia stock
How do you know it is legitimate? Because someone on the internet said so?
binlog··on Owed a billion dollars in Nvidia stock
Because the next day hundreds more would show up with similar claims.
binlog··on Owed a billion dollars in Nvidia stock
Everyone hates them only when they are on the losing side. Imagine you got sued for non-payment by a plumber who fixed your sink 30 years ago, and had to defend yourself in court. The author would change is tune about contracts real quick if this happened to him.

> Here in the land of the free, it turns out a company only has to honor its contractual obligations for a little while.

If Nvidia showed you contract paperwork that proved they overpaid you 9,375 shares in 1993, would you agree to pay them back the present value? After all contracts should be enforceable indefinitely right?

binlog··on Owed a billion dollars in Nvidia stock
Doesn’t matter what you are suing for. The window to do it closed a long time ago.
binlog··on Owed a billion dollars in Nvidia stock
The problem should reasonably have been discovered when they signed the contract and it wasn’t fulfilled. No new information has come to light in the 30 years since.
binlog··on Owed a billion dollars in Nvidia stock
They learned about it when they signed the contract. Saying “I forgot about it“ doesn’t reset the statute of limitations.
binlog··on Owed a billion dollars in Nvidia stock
The lawyers representing the author did, and came to this exact conclusion.

> Breach of a written contract: 4 years from the date the contract was broken.

Which part do you think is debatable?

binlog··on Owed a billion dollars in Nvidia stock
Read the whole thing again. They aren’t complaining about the 15,625 shares (which they presumably sold a long time ago) but the remaining 25,000–15,625.
binlog··on Owed a billion dollars in Nvidia stock
Why would anyone buy that right? Statute of limitations is crystal clear here. The case is going to be dismissed the moment it gets in front of a judge.
binlog··on Owed a billion dollars in Nvidia stock
They do not own the stock, because the options never vested and thus were never exercised. The time to assert that claim was 30 years ago.
binlog··on Show HN: Panda, the world's first personal AI computer
Not just vaporware but a scam to collect the $100 deposits and disappear.

December 2027 shipping date is hilarious for an AI hardware product.

binlog··on Automattic has a new board after failed attempt to put CEO on leave
Any “tech” person would already have left Wordpress a decade ago, even before all the drama. It’s a slow, bloated, bug ridden, insecure mess.

The company is being kept alive by 1. People who Google “how to set up an online blog/store” and click the first link and 2. Those who are already in too deep and don’t want to make the effort to migrate.

binlog··on We're gonna need a lot more mathematicians
That’s a very narrow world view. Some people are driven by the pursuit of knowledge, while others want to use the knowledge to have an impact. I don’t care about the knowledge in my head if I can’t use it to make the world a better place. LLMs are fantastic tools to make that a reality. I have a computer science degree and am now 10-100x more productive with AI assistance. I give zero shits about all the people going “but you’re not crafting the code by manipulating bytes using magnets, so it isn’t real.” The non profit using my vibe coded app finds it very real.
binlog··on Plunging test scores are a slow-moving catastrophe
- Students who entered the education system in the COVID years are still taking tests today. They didn’t automatically relearn everything.

- Schools have not gone back to pre-COVID practices. Online courses, use of digital tools, fewer tests, dropping SAT/ACT requirements, and most of all budget cuts in school districts – all are still happening today.

binlog··on Plunging test scores are a slow-moving catastrophe
Hmm, did anything happen in 2020 to disrupt the entire education system?
binlog··on Meta's Muse appears to use an OpenAI model labeled muse-special
Every engineer at Meta is using Claude (and in some cases Codex) to do their work. Willing to bet that Muse itself was ~100% written by Claude/Codex. Pride goes out of the window when business is involved.
binlog··on Show HN: Jev Plays Pokémon Red
This entire conversation around Jev seems weird to me. Like... we started from neural nets that could do basic decision making and classifications pretty well, then trained larger and larger language models to get to where we are now. Now suddenly everyone is going crazy because someone trained a smaller model that is adequate at making decisions? We already went through the "look this AI can play pokemon terribly" phase like a decade ago.
binlog··on Meta's Muse appears to use an OpenAI model labeled muse-special
Depends on the size of the deal. OpenAI would have to disclose it in their S-1 if it crossed the threshold of being material information for investors.

Why host it on Azure though?
