bilsbie··on X sends in the lawyers to shut down open source project
A long time ago twitter had built in rss feeds. No need to scrape.
bilsbie··on FDA authorizes first wearable device that monitors ketone and blood sugar levels
“Wearable” seems misleading. It looks like this is inserted into the arm like a cgm? Or am I looking at the wrong product?
bilsbie··on New Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra
Can that run qwen? Also can you explain what you meant by the downside ?
bilsbie··on Apple introduces M6 and M5 Ultra for a big leap in performance and AI compute
Is this the best bet for running local AI now? The choices are overwhelming.
bilsbie··on Show HN: I trained a 125M model to autocomplete piano on-device
Should tokens be multiple Midi notes? Why or why not?
bilsbie··on Seed Oils as a Driver of Heart Disease – Zero Acre Farms
Interesting. I wonder if 2 ounces is enough to cause any damage. Also fresh ground flax seed has got to be better than chicken fried in two week old soybean oil. How do they separate all the potential issues.
bilsbie··on Google is making private AI practical with homomorphic encryption
I think this could be an effective privacy preserving approach:

Run the encoding and first and last layer of the LLM on the users machine. They could still get some idea of the content but really couldn’t easily get the actual text back.

Anyone know if that’s viable?

bilsbie··on Qwen 3.8 27B
Any chance I could run it on a GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB, (64 gb ram)
bilsbie··on Heart aerospace completes first flight of largest electric aircraft
GOOD POINT by my wife. Is there a super high density battery they could use just to have available to count for reserves even if it’s one time use. Just plan never to use it in normal flight.
bilsbie··on Heart aerospace completes first flight of largest electric aircraft
It’s funny they tell you the weight at takeoff. That’s uh not changing.
bilsbie··on Grok 4.6 scores 61 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index
Why do we need Nissan? Three car companies are plenty.
bilsbie··on DARPA heavy lift challenge ends with winner at a 3.84:1 payload to weight ratio
Interesting. What’s the kite supposed to do?
bilsbie··on DARPA heavy lift challenge ends with winner at a 3.84:1 payload to weight ratio
Kite rotor?
bilsbie··on 50k Boat Names
I probably missed it but can you download all the names? I want to run it through microgpt and see what it comes up with.
bilsbie··on Show HN: I'm a 15 Year Old Wannabe Engineer, This Is a Cycloidal Gearbox I Built
What is it?
bilsbie··on US Treasury undertakes historic intervention in yen market
Can anyone steel man the “this isn’t a big deal” side of this?

On x and reddit all I see are sky is falling posts.

bilsbie··on Rear center fuel tank adds roughly 20k liters and extends range by 1k NM
I like stop overs but I wish they counted toward flying time.
bilsbie··on Run Kimi K3 using 29 GB of RAM at 0.50 tok/s
Claude might as well be .5 tok/s. I end up waiting several minutes and what it tells me could usually be summarized in under 100 words.

So I could potentially live with this if it was concise.

bilsbie··on Exercise works for depression. So why isn't it treated like real medicine?
There’s a good argument for making joining a gym or buying exercise equipment prescription only. A lot of people can injure themselves if they don’t know what they’re doing.

Maybe we could use flock cameras to enforce prescriptions for walking on the sidewalks.

bilsbie··on Glue bonds to nonstick surfaces and wipes clean with ethanol
Could this be used for hanging things from walls without damaging them?
bilsbie··on An old patent inspired the new "Y-zipper", a three-sided fastener
My first thought is a better tape measure. Wouldn’t that be cool if it didn’t bend.
bilsbie··on Hybrid-Electric Aicraft Engine Targeting 30% Fuel Efficiency
I’d imagine the apu could recharge it during flight at least somewhat.
bilsbie··on Full Scale Foldable Wing Extensions
What’s the purpose of doing this? (Site won’t load for me)
bilsbie··on Intel Starts Shipping High-NA EUV Silicon
How come we don’t make chips with really small 3d printers?
bilsbie··on Jack Dorsey launches Buzz to combine team chat, AI agents and Git hosting
This is basically the ide of the future if you think about it. If bots do all the coding then this is where you’ll code.
bilsbie··on Kimi Work
Could I use the browsing feature to search for land to buy? Or is there an easier way I’m overlooking?

Hoping to find something on a creek with a Mountain View and fairly remote.

bilsbie··on How we measured AI writing across arXiv, and where the measurement breaks
Just to play devils advocate. These kind of papers are very verbose and boilerplate. I can imagine using AI to write 90% but then the actual novel content and explaining what’s important could be handwritten.

Perhaps that’s what’s happening.

bilsbie··on REO Trucks I4 4WD Pickup Truck Starts at $21,500
At this point the killer feature would be: privacy, control of your own vehicle, and repair ability.

Does it offer this? Wish someone would make that product.

Am I understanding right? They detected an atmosphere but don’t know what it’s made of?
