Congrats on your launch.

billdybas··on Ruby on Rails is out: major coding bootcamp ditches it, due to waning interest
I would consider JavaScript my primary language, and you're right - Node is usually my go-to choice for a web backend. Express is pretty easy to grasp and be productive with.

But when I need more (auth, orm, logging, etc.), I feel like I'm spending more time searching for and curating packages and then trying to get them integrated than I am actually building an application.

Rails (especially its API flag) has caught my attention recently because this becomes a non-issue - you pretty much just use what Rails has included.

billdybas··on How a VC-funded company is undermining the open-source community
It's nice this is getting more response today - my submission yesterday got no comments.

I almost spit my coffee out when I learned about this (as I'm a minimap user who had no idea this was going on). Not a fan of these shady practices - completely breaks the trust between package maintainer and users.

billdybas··on Ask HN: What are some good tools for keeping a software project on track?
I echo others: effective communication and a motivated team are more important than any tool.

I would add that visibility into what everyone else is working on is also super helpful to avoid stepping on other's toes or duplicating work.

Once you've got communication down, you might find one of these tools useful:

billdybas··on More than a decade later, how original YouTube stars feel about the site
Veritasium recently made a video [1] talking about how the site today seems to favor quantity over quality. Many of the people in the comments there think YouTube's recommendations are to blame saying they're often not relevant. What have been your experiences?

billdybas··on Connect: behind the front-end experience
Fascinating read! Web Animations are always so cool, but I never know where to start to incorporate them into my own work. What resources help one reach this level of expertise?
billdybas··on File Format Posters
Wow! These are pretty cool.

I would also like to see Atlas expand to include B Corps.
