biggoodwolf··on The kingdom of Bhutan has been quietly mining Bitcoin for years
And that is the difference between theory and practice...

So that makes it intrinsically bad? What is acceptable vs unacceptable uses of energy? Esp. when we're not talking about food production or medicine
biggoodwolf··on Controversial bill to regulate online streaming becomes law in Canada
You did not dispel his argument, even if biased; how different would it be from North Korea? (That's hyperbole but this person has a good point)

I'd say it is even revealing of a particular worldview. Even within the article, the impression seems to be that the people of Bhutan (and the author) NEED or deserve to know about it.

Which is preposterous considering it is a Kingdom

You just said it, it is money.

It's not wasted any more than it is wasted when you play a game or watch a youtube video or TV. It's just a use of energy which you are trying to make as somehow bad. It's just a cultural preference.

Could say that about social media or video games.
biggoodwolf··on Bob Lee, former CTO of Square, has died after being stabbed in San Francisco
If you knew the kind of people that are my friend's neighbors. Basically you have the 0.01% of a country there, if you know people you know people, information reaches them way faster.

biggoodwolf··on Where have all the laid-off tech workers gone?

biggoodwolf··on Remote work is starting to hit office rents
I'd say most cities are better off not having homeless shelters. Otherwise you'd become a magnet for homeless. What happened to catering to the actual tax-payers?

The problem is the homeless, not their unhoused/housed status. Never saw so many ambulances on a daily basis as on a hotel that was repurposed for homeless. (Owner was pretty happy having his crummy hotel filled at a $200/night rate ;) )

biggoodwolf··on Remote work is starting to hit office rents
Who's gonna pay the real estate taxes? LOL

biggoodwolf··on War and subsidies have turbocharged the green transition
How convenient! Why stop there, might as well go to the Stone Age, if the green transition does not get us there, then global war surely will. /s
biggoodwolf··on Why Is Colorectal Cancer Rising Rapidly Among Young Adults?
Fake foods, low vitamin D, iron shavings supplementation in flour -> bad vitamin B status, bad intestinal bacteria, intestinal damage -> chronic inflammation -> cancer
biggoodwolf··on Amazon Ring cameras used in nationwide ‘swatting’ spree, US Justice Dept. says
Far-less extreme? Why? Just because they loudly profess it?
biggoodwolf··on Apple introduces end-to-end encryption for backups
I guess the same point could be made about religion. Call me an agnostic then when it comes to device security
biggoodwolf··on Publicity Stunt Fallout
Whoa, but then how would governments shape research?
biggoodwolf··on Plants use their epigenetic memories to adapt to climate change
This is the epigenetic vs plain genetic part.

The founder of EA got SBF in. That's another can of worms but that guy apparently changed his last name from Crouch to McAuskil or whatever...
biggoodwolf··on Which one of these will be the biggest “unicorn” failure ever?

Just good nature and good nurture.
