So you end up with unqualified people in positions just to meet the quota. All of a sudden sterotypes about these people start and anyone from this group starts getting labeled as dumb because they are hiring candidates by appearance rather than qualification. Sounds like a real good idea.

I wonder if negative results would be present had the economy been worse off. When your business has grown 10% because of a booming economy it’s easier to cover extra expenses. Will Seattle fair as well in a recession than other economies? I really doubt it.

I openly admit I am a republican but I have never understood why there are not more tax brackets. A person making 100k per year is not even close to the same as a person making 100m per year but are taxed at the same rate.

There are a lot more cities than Colorado Springs that don’t allow retail including many of the surrounding Denver cities.

Reddit did their redesign right. Many people hated it and they gave the option to go to the old reddit immediately after the new version was released.

No surprise that someone in the crypto space is severely mis informed while also making it clear they only truly care about the price. The truth of it is that Ethereum functions better as a system at $10 than $1000. Of course crypto has been hijacked by brain dead speculators so it’s hard to see its true value.

On top of the new gmail being extremely slow the new google Ads or AdWords is so much worse. I have to run an ec2 instance at work in order to get just “ok” speeds. This is with fiber optic internet...

As a small business owner in a state that recently passed minimum wage hikes up to 50% higher than 5 years early let me share my experience. We have raised wages pretty dramatically but realistically it has absolutely nothing to do with the minimum wage hike. Since unemployment is so low in our state we actively need to compete with other businesses to hire people and the strongest selling point is offering better wages. Now obviously the hike has forced us to pay more than we regularly would.

The results of this is that we have raised the amount we charge customers. Those customers then complain that their having to pay more for the same service. At the same time every single apartment in this area has had its rent increased by a large margin. Cost of goods have gone up. Cost of services has gone up. House prices has gone up as labor cost has as well. The people making 15 per hour before are now getting paid the same as the entry level workers. Any employee that has been loyal to the company has not had the same wage increase as the other workers yet they are paying more for everything they purchase.

In my opinion minimum wage hike is “working” simply because of the low unemployment rate and the booming economy. The statistics don’t really paint an accurate picture. Ask any of my employees if they are better off today than they were 5 years ago and most would say no. The employees we have had for 5+ years would say they are worse off today.
