You don't think anyone on the left holds that position?

Even the Hacker News crowd has previously upvoted stories like this:

> [The proto-fascism of Elon Musk](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35998913)

And elsewhere around the world you have this type of stuff.

> The Nation, Sept 2023: Elon Musk Is a Threat to Democracy

> The Information.com, Oct 2022: Elon Musk's Management Style is a Threat to Global Democracy

> Irish Examiner, Dec 2022: Why Elon Musk's Twitter takeover is a threat to democracy

> CommonCause.org, Oct 2022: Elon Musk Twitter Acquisition Poses Risks to Our Democracy

I find it hard to reconcile seeing all this sentiment towards him, while also asserting unequivocally that nobody on the left would compare "threat to global democracy" Elon Musk, to Hitler.

> This isn't left vs right. This is extreme moral relativism to the point of racism. The end point of a line of ethics ML research where people won't take a stand that might offend almost anyone.

I think if you created a distribution of the people who "somewhat to strongly agree" that Elon is comparable to Hitler, that distribution would be biased to the left.

So in that sense isn't this a left vs right problem?

Google's institutional biases affect their products.

Hard to pretend that's not operative.

The amount of hip hop that explicitly trades in horrifically prejudicial content, that isn't getting yanked by eBay or Amazon, likely dwarfs these books thousands of times over in both reach and vileness.

Tired of white liberal handwringing translating into these clearly performative corporate maneuvers.

Once an entire government worth of people led the US into war that cost millions of lives over fake reports of nukes.

It would be interesting to compare the damage caused by open, crowd-sourced investigative efforts against the damage caused of closed "authoritative" investigative efforts.

He's claiming you're blowing a dogwhistle, and that you're not-so-secretly a racist.

The wisdom of the "may you live in interesting times" curse rears its head once again.

I’m not seeing not sticking to 30k is really detrimental to how most people would likely consume a doc like this, which would probably be to sample various parts to find what they’re interested in and then dig in.
bgravinz··on The New York Times course to teach its reporters data skills is now open-source
That seems like more of an exercise in framing.

If you currently work at the NYT as a data-science researcher, doing the job that journalists without data-science experience can’t do, and you see your job imperilled by this, you’ll want to do exactly what these journalists are doing, but in reverse: Expanding their role to something they didn’t previously do in order to stay competitive in the job market.

bgravinz··on The New York Times course to teach its reporters data skills is now open-source
Why would journalists need to know data science?
bgravinz··on Our ongoing work to tackle hate
Many very popular religions are supremacist in nature.

And pretending otherwise to allow them to skirt the censors just makes the entire censor regime seem like a hollow power play by a company trying to keep from sinking in a turbulent political time.

I'd argue that "poor diet" rounds out that list of "obvious physiological deficits that impair mental health".
