bewareofscams··on OpenBSD Developers Reject Uutils Coreutils
My account is banned, so for whomever with [showdead] on:

It's unfortunate that the supposed pillar of security dismisses Rust on dubious grounds. Yes, there is agenda coming from Ubuntu. And yet, Rust IS the secure alternative to C/C++ (alternative is a misnomer, it's better than the latter on all fronts), so OpenBSD dismissal is very superficial.

bewareofscams··on Kolibri: A Sovereign Open-Weight Model
My account is banned, so for whomever with [showdead] on:

What's so "not-sovereign" for an open-weights American or an open-weight-open-training-process Chinese LLM?

Do we also need sovereign Linux (maybe), sovereign Postgres (most likely not), sovereign Python (def not)?

My account is banned, so for whomever having [showdead] on:

European directive is not a law, it's a directive.

It's up to the national governments to create applicable laws that are to the letter and to the spirit of a European directive. Then national bodies will start applying the law and govern its implementation/adherence.

An by "up to" I mean they are obliged... eventually.

There must be people who talk like that.

There must be people who think like that.

There must be people who will find nothing disturbing if read or hear such a sentence.

No, that's wishful thinking.
bewareofscams··on Mental Health Workers Say Algorithmic Triage Is Hurting Patients
This was the premise of GDPR (which I wholeheartedly support), but Europe caved in to US dictatorship (like Europe always does, cause it has no agency).
bewareofscams··on Marx, Keynes, and AI
This linked moloch essay caters to pseudointellectuals and uses a lot of words to do one thing: absolve the evil people of any responsibility.

Instead of wasting a potential reader's time, here's a way better framing: "The Earth is not dying, it is being killed, and those who are killing it have names and addresses."

Given that I don't know everything about my 4-person company, and that I never knew everything when it was a 1-person company (guess which person is that), this sound like https://x.com/mitchellh/status/2044529496217555333 (apologies for twitter link)

vibeaccounting explained by llm and posted to vibecoded page which leverages claude-authored horrendous page scroll hijack, no thanks.

to add insult to injury: "author" learned nothing, and there's nothing to learn.

bewareofscams··on Berlin is being blackmailed by hackers
it would also be foolish to think the sets "humans" and "those who write germany is a backwards country" never overlap.

(I've used "write" to account for bots in the latter set too).

bewareofscams··on OpenShot 4.0 – Open-source video editor
I have tried the ones I have mentioned, and I hadn't tried this one, - which is precisely why I am asking!

No need for snarky "but ours is foss smugface" comments.

Not to say, your comment make me pretty sure you hadn't tried either of mentioned by me, and does not take video editing seriously.

bewareofscams··on OpenShot 4.0 – Open-source video editor
This does not answer my question, I need something that can do thing, not how it is licensed. I have used Kdenlive, and it's nowhere near either of these functionality-wise, and struggles with big files.
bewareofscams··on OpenShot 4.0 – Open-source video editor
How does this compare to After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Davinci Resolve?

I am pretty sure, this thing solves half of the problems the above solve, and it does it half-good.
