benigeri··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (April 2016)
Nootrobox - http://nootrobox.com - San Francisco, CA - ONSITE

Nootrobox is the world’s leading nootropics and biohacking company. Our mission is to enable and productize human enhancement.

Our team of 6 consists of Stanford, MIT, Google, and Y-Combinator alums. Four of us have Stanford and MIT CS degrees, two of us are working on MD/PhD’s at Harvard and Emory, and we raised $2.5MM+ from Andreessen Horowitz and operators like Marissa Mayer and Mark Pincus. We're all biohackers and do at least 36-hour fasts every week.

We're a very early stage startup, generating a multi-million revenue run rate, and are already profitable—that's rare. We just launched GO CUBES Chewable Coffee, and it's a hit. They sold out on Amazon in 4 days! http://gocub.es

We’re looking for engineers, designers, and other great people to join our small but strong team. Our tech stack is modern and includes Ruby on Rails, React and Swift. We offer competitive compensation and generous equity.

Email paul@nootrobox.com with your favorite biohack to let us know you’re interested.

benigeri··on Help with Rails?
Hey jrbeal, I've had the same problems. I taught myself ROR over the past year and I had huge issues getting it off the ground. I've been through over 20 different sets of tutorials, so I'm sure I can help out.

I also had a lot of initial difficulty setting up my environments, but I've gotten a lot better at it now.

If you'd like, send me an email benigeri@stanford.edu and I can try to help you and point you to good resources. It's a little hard to suggest anything right now since I don't have any context.

So send me an email and I'll try to help you as much as I can, pro-bono.

benigeri··on Ask HN: Tell me what iOS app you'd like me to build, and I'll open source it.
Thats an awesome idea. Unless I get any better suggestions, I think I'll go with this. Shoot me an email: paul|at|benigeri|dot|com and I'll send you a link when its released.
benigeri··on Ask HN: Tell me what iOS app you'd like me to build, and I'll open source it.
Right now I'm thinking of making a fast email sender. You select a template, then select a contact, and in two taps you can send a predefined message.
benigeri··on Ask HN: Tell me what iOS app you'd like me to build, and I'll open source it.
Hahah yeah thats would be pretty cool.
benigeri··on Recruiting: Stanford BASES Startup Career Fair
This year's BASES Startup Career Fair is scheduled to take place at the Lawn behind the Gates Computer Science Building on the Stanford Campus. We had over 900 students attend this fair last year, making it a very successful recruiting and networking event for both companies and attendees.

A full table at the Career Fair entitles you to one six-foot table with a maximum of four representatives (a half table is maximum two reps). Both options include parking, free shuttle service from the venue to the parking and back, break-time snacks and refreshments, and access to post jobs on our entrepreneurship email newsletter, the BASES Digest, reaching over 5,000 people. You will also be given a complimentary copy of the Resume Booklet, which consists of an orderly collection of resumes of all Stanford students seeking jobs and internships.

When purchasing a table at the BASES Startup Career Fair you also have the option to register for the Startup 101 Career Fair simultaneously for a $50 discount on both fairs combined. The Startup 101 Career Fair is hosted with five other student groups and held in Tresidder Memorial Union on February 27th from 10am-4pm. If you would like to register separately for this fair and not the BASES Startup Career Fair please contact us at bases-external-relations-12-13@lists.stanford.edu for more information.

Shortly after registration you will receive a link to a survey to fill out with more information about your company and the types of students you are looking for, and closer to the date of the career fair you will receive an email with more information about the logistics of the day of the fair. We look forward to your participation in our upcoming career fair!

benigeri··on Ask HN: What is a good way to host a Rails app for free? Or very cheap?
Might actually work for my site. I don't need a big or fast db as I will be the only one using the rails interface. External users are just served non-interactive pages.
benigeri··on Ask HN: What is a good way to host a Rails app for free? Or very cheap?
It's fine for developing but I want to have this as something I can send to employers and friends. I don't want them to have to wait up to 10s to see a site that I spend a lot of time trying to speed up lol
benigeri··on Ask HN: What is a good way to host a Rails app for free? Or very cheap?
I'm going to try those next, thanks.
benigeri··on Ask HN: What is a good way to host a Rails app for free? Or very cheap?
Yeah its a technical issue. I've been trying to set it up for the past couple days with rubber, its not worked once.
benigeri··on Why does Google Search still not support infinity scrolling? Ads?
Check out http://duckduckgo.com

I use Google because the search results a much better.

However, in terms of UX, I personally feel that scrolling though an endless stream of results is much nicer than having them split up in groups of ten. I find it much nice to be uninterrupted when I'm trying to quickly scan through a ton of search results.

benigeri··on Why does Google Search still not support infinity scrolling? Ads?
The repetition obviously applies for your search engine that displays solely favicons, but I don't think that there are many duplicate search results.
benigeri··on Why does Google Search still not support infinity scrolling? Ads?
That would provide 100 pages worth of scrolling. And scrolling through 1000 items would be a huge improvement from their current 10 results per page.
benigeri··on Why does Google Search still not support infinity scrolling? Ads?
That seems highly unlikely, and to my knowledge, they haven't even A/B tested any kind of endless scrolling on the web search.
benigeri··on Why does Google Search still not support infinity scrolling? Ads?
The question was more of a curious one, I'd like to see what others think Google's rationale is for sticking to page by page.
