"Should mention that a battery pack upgrade is not coming soon for the Model S, but it obviously will happen long-term."

beltex··on Battery Swap Pilot Program
"At least initially, battery swap will be available by appointment and will cost slightly less than a full tank of gasoline for a premium sedan."

Assuming there is demand for battery swaps, as the install base grows, this will almost certainly drop.

beltex··on Battery Swap Pilot Program
"It’s actually funny, because before we were able to get the Roadster out, they would say, “Well you couldn’t possibly make that car work”. Then when we made the car work, then they’d say, “Well nobody’s going to buy it”. Then people bought it. Then we announced the Model S and so many people called bullshit on that it was ridiculous, and yet we were able to bring it to market, and when we brought it to market they said, “Well you’d never be able to produce it at volume”, and then we did that. Then they said, “You will never be able to make a profit”, then we did that in Q1. So I’m hopeful that people will observe that theres a trend here."

beltex··on Introducing Phoenix, Swift set free
"Guys, feel free to make up your own dragons if you want, but your speculation is just that: speculation. We literally have not even discussed this yet, because we have a ton of work to do to respond to the huge volume of feedback we're getting, and have to get a huge number of things (e.g. access control!) done before the 1.0 release this fall. You can imagine that many of us want it to be open source and part of llvm, but the discussion hasn't happened yet, and won't for some time.

Sorry to leave you all hanging, but there is just far too much to deal with right now.

The Model X is dual motor all wheel drive. So maybe it's being ported over to the Model S. Musk speaking about it below.

beltex··on A Supercharging Milestone
Also, battery swaps, which is faster than filling a tank of gas (though not free), will help. As Musk put it, when you'd come to a supercharger station, it be a decision between faster (battery swap) or free (supercharger).
