bellerose··on The misunderstood consequences of electroconvulsive therapy
My opinion is suicide being the better outcome than electroconvulsive therapy.

People are so irrational in fearing the unknown "death" that they'll do something barbaric to themselves and where the outcome is creating a disabled version of their former self.

Humanity is really disgusting. First, we label people with "depression" a word denoting human expression built upon a pseudo practice named psychiatry and where the majority of people being depressed just suffered poor life events. Financial problems, divorce, child abuse, social & behavioural development problems, the list goes on and the professionals receiving funding "for these victims" will just try to numb the victim's brain; to medicate the problem away.

bellerose··on More jails replace in-person visits with awful video chat products
I've been trying to bring social change myself in my spare time.

I try to teach people about determinism and where free will is an illusion. How every event experienced is factored from the preceding event and where nobody has any control in life. The starting point being a person's birth is the key in how everything will play out. I think once people become educated in understanding determinism, real change can happen and where people will understand why people are ending up in these horror shows.

Society is fundamentally broken because of the finances being so diverse, the education system heavily dependent on where a person lives and parental abuse or poor genetics. Right now people are reading hogwash that makes them think they have choice in their life and continues to flourish the faulty system of what we have today. Allowing people to end up in the bottom of the barrel. Devoid of any true humanity. I thought I should share with you because you could have this on the list as well

> Prison labor can be rewarding and help build up the skills that a person needs when they are rehabilitated.

Your definition of rewarding is flexible or how you say it loose. Someone forced into a situation where that's all they do isn't going to think whatever they're doing is rewarding unless they've had the shittiest life ever. I'm guessing you believe whatever is put on camera or written by people who run the horror shows hidden away from modern society.

bellerose··on I Lied When I Said We Did Everything We Could
Exerting one's own values upon a person who values to die instead of be in pain is selfish. Its a my values are more of a concern over your values and when it's the circumstance of the person being in pain that wants to have choice over living or dying.
bellerose··on I Lied When I Said We Did Everything We Could
This article reinforces my view even more. We as a society needs to allow people to end their life in a medical environment and only if they're capable of making the decision on their own in a rational manner. I've witnessed horrible situations where the life is not going to improve and is intolerable for the victim who wants an exit even if it means death. Why do we allow our own selfish desires to have these people continue in pain and when the other person wants death.
bellerose··on Foods for healthier people and a healthier planet [pdf]
I think the problem for most people not eating healthier is lack of knowledge in preparation, cooking and storing. Recently I purchased an instant pot and it makes cooking healthy food extremely easy with decreasing prep & cleaning time. I just throw everything into this pot with water, hit a few buttons and wait 30mins to an hour. All goes into containers in the fridge and can be reheated in the microwave. I can make a good week worth of food in a few hours. I'm still trying to perfect different meals since I never used to cook.
bellerose··on Groups of Homeless People
I’m surprised people can even act like they care. We had one generation awhile back made it so affordable housing existed for the young and where banks were alright with mortgages being done. That very same generation that could obtain a home in their 20s without requiring a degree. Now runs the show where the young are being pressured into obtaining a degree and fill small rentals that continue to rise in cost. People should be able to have a place they truly consider their own. Mental health depends on it. People just don’t care.
bellerose··on Study Linking Autism to 'Male Brain' Retracted, Replaced
I'm surprised you associate it with autism and not gender dysphoria.
bellerose··on Study Linking Autism to 'Male Brain' Retracted, Replaced
Escapism might just be the case. I know from my own experience gaming was just a way to focus on something else besides a cruel reality. Eventually moved to programming and realized later what was happening. I'm sure if life had been different, I would have done a different career and one that's more social with the focus in a social aspect.
bellerose··on Klotho – There May Be a Drug to Turbocharge Your Brain. Who Should Get It?
I think the question they’re asking is already observable. Who is privileged to have finances that can pursue a healthy lifestyle compared to the person having to order off the dollar menu. Who can afford supplements, exercising and leisure time without stress. No matter it’s unfair and people have no trouble not caring when they’re the privileged. Nobody’s going to take the fallacious high road with any drug that increases lifespan or lifestyle and give it to the less privileged or unfortunate compared to themselves.
bellerose··on Mission to find never-contacted Amazon tribe to stop “catastrophic” jungle war
It's an existence with no meaning like any other.

I'm upset by the whole thing for the reason of how some people think isolation is appropriate in allowing this situation to even occur. It's maddening to think a more advanced civilization in space could be observing us in similar fashion as these people with their kids and who have no idea what's going on in the rest of the world. Ugh.. seems so cruel.

bellerose··on You Have to Pay the Right Person
I think the theory of skill being nearly worthless in comparison is correct. But I don't think that has really changed from the past. The majority of products & services in this world don't really bring any value to a person.

I think the main problem in society is overpopulation. We're getting to the point that too many people exist for the old systems to function and as smoothly & unnoticeable for the mainstream as before.

bellerose··on Researchers get humans to think like computers
Yah, my reply was tailored to what you wrote and how I think about what you wrote.
bellerose··on If I Sleep for an Hour, 30 People Will Die (2016)
Every generation thought the same.
bellerose··on Researchers get humans to think like computers
Everyone is the product of the past generations. So I don't care if you think "I" didn't come up with the comment.
bellerose··on Researchers get humans to think like computers
Of course humans can think like computers. We're all just deterministic beings on this planet. Only difference is humans have a starting point of being socially conditioned to think contrary because we want to feel special but we're similar to shooting stars across the night sky by the act of external forces.
bellerose··on Psychiatry’s Incurable Hubris
The topic of Psychiatry is interesting to observe. I'm reading pessimists vs optimists in the comments and find it amusing because of the impossibility of knowing who is right. I want to believe society has best intentions and is on the right path. Yet what does the science really exhibit? A lot of psychiatry has been horrific the past hundred years and cases exist where the person does benefit. So what's the majority verdict because even snake oil has some satisfied customers.
bellerose··on Amsterdam's Plan: If You Buy a Newly Built House, You Can't Rent It Out
Good for you being honest. You help deluded people realize the social community ideology isn’t necessarily a universal trait. Takes a lot of social conditioning to be unraveled to understand nobody really knows if the majority care about one another or are just concerned about themselves.
bellerose··on Scientists rise up against statistical significance
That's fated to happen by the external forces making it happen.
bellerose··on Scientists rise up against statistical significance
How is being an agent capable of making choices without outside influence compatible with determinism? My understanding is nobody can ever be an agent capable of making choices without outside influence. A person is fundamentally influenced at birth by external forces and moulding the person by deterministic process without the person having any real control. Furthermore one could only say they had free will if before life one agreed to take role of birth as a specific person and with knowing how life will play out till the end. Compatibilists are people who don't understand determinism because free will doesn't work with determinism. /hard determinist.
bellerose··on Americans Are Going Bankrupt from Getting Sick
I met a guy at university who suffered a car crash and where he wasn't at fault. Guy spent a month in a hospital bed and now has trouble walking. Owes 50k+ in medical bills and doesn't want to declare bankruptcy. He was in CS so he will probably survive but I just feel it's completely unnecessary that he suffer the added stress in life of owing finances for medical treatment. Specifically when he had no control over the accident and is in no way to blame. I left America for Canada because morally the country makes me sick.
bellerose··on Iranian lawyer who defended women’s right to remove hijab gets 38 years
Wow, she is 55 years old and will be 93 when completing the sentence. I would prefer a noose for myself instead of that outcome.
bellerose··on I’d rather be dead than linger on in an old folks’ home
I didn't mean to imply spirit and should have wrote religious.
bellerose··on I’d rather be dead than linger on in an old folks’ home
I don't doubt your experience or even the countless others who have had it happen and shared online. I just find it possible to be a trigger-able hallucination. Similar to what is possible with drugs. It's impossible to ever know if an out of body experience is real or a hallucination. I do find it interesting though. I think meditation is a healthy process to keep in one's arsenal of activities.
bellerose··on Uber Not Criminally Liable in Death of Woman Hit by Self-Driving Car
I think we need to educate people how free will is an illusion and because it would help in preventing the root causes.
bellerose··on I’d rather be dead than linger on in an old folks’ home
I have the view that all persons with psychological illnesses should have the right to receive euthanasia and only if they desire with medical professionals examining them if coercion exists or not. Society is currently selfish, arrogant and ignorant when it comes to authority over people who desire death. I know one person who is being discriminated based on her painful illness and while knowing a person who received euthanasia who suffered less pain in his life than the other person. The first person being diagnosed with gender dysphoria and the second person with cancer. The events lived in life can be more important than the illness when it comes to how pain is felt & dealt with.
bellerose··on I’d rather be dead than linger on in an old folks’ home
You might live your life over and over. The universe could be expanding and retracting for infinity. Resulting in all the variables for your same exact life to repeat for infinity.
bellerose··on I’d rather be dead than linger on in an old folks’ home
> Just don't tell me it's a hallucination until you've done it successfully yourself.

I cannot resist, I've done meditation with never performing the out of body experience and I've read about it in great detail. I would still think the possibility of it all being a hallucination and even if performed with thinking it was definitely real. Hallucinations can be so real that they're impossible to disprove. Consciousness might not even be real in the sense that most people think about it as because reality tends to be deterministic with the impossibility to prove otherwise.

bellerose··on I’d rather be dead than linger on in an old folks’ home
Every death is the natural death of the person. Unless you force the free will (illusion)/spiritual ideology upon everyone. All death comes without choices in a world where all experiences are factored from the preceding events. A person who dies by suicide didn't choose it. Similar to a person who dies from old age.
bellerose··on How random can you be?
You can have a deterministic universe effecting our deterministic universe and where we would perceive the effects as random but isn't. It could also be impossible to measure the effects as deterministic based on our lifespan not being able to analysis the data.
