belforn··on Show HN: TripTip – A minimalist travel planner from wiki data
I built the v01 of this in feb 2025... with LLM only: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=43172578

now added wikivoyage as source of knowledge + map with the route

yep, API's are slower than my patience also...

making all the demo presets at once becomes expensive quickly. (I'm pre-filling them day by day)

Total possible combinations: 11,340 (based on default settings) - 12 locations - 7 duration options - 15 month options - 9 trip type options

belforn··on Show HN: News Headlines in 4 Flavours: Far-Left / Far-Right / Clickbait / Info
Hi I made this to play with the concept of echo-chambers, filter bubbles and algorithmic curation. Every n hours it reads news from newsapi.org and runs them (Title + Description) through a LLM with an intentional bias towards far-left and far-right perspective, and craft 4 parallel headlines: two with an obvious clickbait tone and two with more explanatory informative one.

Someone already set it up: http://thisbeetledoesnotexist.com/

nice results! could be interesting to see another network naming the mutant creatures :)

yes, it is published. Available via @RunwayML https://open-app.runwayml.com/?model=cunicode/confusing_cole...

Correct.

The machine here doesn’t even know that those are beetles (because nobody told it), it is “just” arranging pixels in a similar manner as the pixels from the source images. It does understand that each generated image must have “legs”, “eyes”, “shells”... and other features that it detected are common in the original images.

All of the dynamic content on each listing is generated via a series of different machine-learned AI models.

it could be used like that. Technically, the model already learned the features of the dataset. (although it was unlabelled). There are some implementations to find features in StyleGAN and enhance/modify those: StyleGan Encoder https://github.com/spiorf/stylegan-encoder

belforn··on Show HN: Turn GPS tracks into 3D-Printed mountains
right, that's the main drawback... :( specially because 3Dprinting prices escalate volumetrically... which means that something double the size is not twice expensive, but like eight times more expensive...

Strange, After uploading it should load the viewer instantly...

Please try to upload again from here: http://www.nicetrails.com/app/

belforn··on Show HN: Turn GPS tracks into 3D-Printed mountains
For long routes (>100km), the terrain tends to look flat, due to the proportions of altitude (Z) vs width/length...

to solve that, we added a "terrain enhancer", a slider to exaggerate the altitude and give a dramatic look to the 3D model :)

Hi, this is Bernat, 3D printing designer...

we launched nicetrails to create unique trophies for mountaineers and outdoor sport activities.

the idea is: 1. Upload a GPS track (.gpx) 2. View the trail in 3D 3. Choose map style: satellite / snow 4. Order your trophy (3D Print in full color)

are you a hiker? biker? trail runner? I'd like your feedback, you can try to upload a .GPX file and see if all looks as expected.

*no need to register

I hope you like it.

Cheers from Barcelona!
