execution is not limited to personal skills. if the "ideas guy" doesn't have the skills to implement his ideas, he can hire/partner with someone who can.

GREAT ideas? rare.
Great ideas + execution? rarer.
most developers hate successful people who don't have technical skills (Steve Jobs, MBAs, managers, non-technical founders, etc.) because they make the developers look a lot less important.
Google sells YOUR personal information that you do NOT want to share to advertisers.
Big difference.
Wrong. The problem with Google started with the new CEO. The decision to focus on Facebook, the Motorola acquisition, Google+, integration across all Google products and services, etc. these are not mid-level management decisions. These are decisions made by Larry Page.
The problem is with the CEO.
I absolutely agree. if you're the CEO of a publicly traded company, it is your fiduciary duty to extract value from the company's assets.
Exhibit #1: Sun Microsystems
if Sun had the cojones to sue Google (re: Java/Android) they'd still be in business today.
I don't care if I get down voted but this made me laugh so hard.
Google didn't release Android to give the users the best possible product, service and user experience. They released Android so they can serve ads.
An ad company will never give a shit about user experience.
I knew this the minute Google bought Android. It took them these long to figure to this out.
Apple sells out of launch-day iPads
http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/12/03/09/apple_sells_ou...
"In reality, 2012 will be the year the iPad loses its market dominance in tablets. By the end of 2013, Apple will hold 1/4 to 1/3 of the market, which is exactly what their entire business model is designed around: lower market share, much higher margins."
Like Android today, Nokia had a huge market share. but that market share was useless because their users didn't give a shit about their crappy phones. their users were not spending money, etc.
"software" vision != TouchWiz, Motoblur, HTC sense, widgets or any of that crap.
"software" vision = ease of use, speed, elegance, stability, secured (NO viruses/malware/spyware), good developer support, good ecosystem.
market share is useless if your users are not spending money.
Android is in the same position as Nokia 10 yrs ago. And we all know how much Nokia profited from their enormous market share.

So what's his excuse? RE: Linux
wrong.
Not even the most rabid Google apologists can spin this one.
