beardyw··on What makes life worth living?
Yes, it is definitely other people, even before I saw your response. Imagine you are literally the only person left, what would be the point of anything.
beardyw··on Ask HN: Do y'all sit here just looking at each url pop up to engage?
Some people only seem to look at the front page. But of course stuff wouldn't get there without engagement. Problem is if a site like this reveals the answer it would just get gamed.

beardyw··on Ask HN: How could a startup stand a chance when Reddit won't even let you post?
Some of us folks here did startups before there was Reddit (or HN). Launching for free wasn't a thing. So things turn around.

beardyw··on Modern decor may be straining people's brains

If there is a smart shortcut we will take it. It's how we became the humans we are today. Unfortunately doesn't help with deliberate learning.

Sadly most students have not been taught how to value learning. They just want a high mark with the least effort.

beardyw··on Ask HN: I want an app to block luddites from my life
To provide a sensible answer: people tend to not be so anti things as having different priorities. I have tinkered with AI, building models etc, but have lost interest because I find the way it is being used is ultimately dangerous. Does that put me in your hate group?
beardyw··on Nigel Farage's unusual by-election opponent: Count Binface
He says he has sort of thought what might happen if he won, and there being no mainstream opponent it could happen.
