Under a different US administration, it would have been completely different. What we just had was the worst possible administration in place, and they dealt with the disaster in the worst possible way.

Buying up the properties with senior water rights seems a lot cheaper than building new reservoirs, dams, etc. What's the value of these types of properties? How much cash flow can the owners possibly be making? The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

It also doesn't help when the previous administration specifically targets you with punitive tax policies.

No, that's still the wrong solution. A computer telling an officer that a car has been stolen - that mechanism is too easy to abuse - it ends up hurting totally innocent people. In most of these cases the driver even showed the officer their paperwork - a rental agreement showing they have the right to use the car.

I suppose that depends on how you evaluate the success or failure of capitalism. The richest person in the world would probably say that capitalism is a great success. As far as the coasts, all life choices involve trade offs.
