• A frog species evolves to be poisonous, making them less palatable to predators.
• A different Delicious frog species evolves to visually mimic the Poisonous frog.
• This creates an evolutionary pressure for the Poisonous frog to change its appearance to less resemble the Delicious frog. The pressure is stronger the more the Delicious frog outnumbers the Poison frog.
• The cycle repeats.
Many large sites (eg The Warehouse [2]) participate by putting an icon at the bottom of their website. When clicked, a modal pops up with domestic abuse resources.
There’s a prominent exit button that closes the modal faster than a page navigation or finding the close tab button. Closing the popup returns you to a major website rather than a new tab page. And most importantly, your history contains no evidence you viewed the information.
Hi HN, I'm Andrew. I deploy and scale ML and scientific workflows.

About my work:
• Past clients include Pepsi, Mercedes-Benz, adept.ai, HackerOne, NZ Met Service
• I run gpxz.io, a Saas providing elevation data to the aviation and natural hazard industries
• 10+ years experience with scientific Python and R
• MS in mathematics
Please get in touch via andrew@ajnisbet.com or https://www.linkedin.com/in/ajnisbet with some information about your project, from there we can set up a call to talk in more detail!

Later, Python's matplotlib library started life as an emulator for MATLAB graphics in Python so naturally included the same plotting DSL.
Only later still did matplotlib morph into the defacto general Python plotting library. And then because plotting is so complex and matplotlib exposes so much control, most subsequent plotting libraries were based on matplotlib, opting to add value via high-level abstractions and better defaults, often exposing the underlying matplotlib objects to allow for fine-tweaking. And so the linestyle API leaks into those libraries too.
All of that to say, this DSL was likely invented by a scientist in a lab in 1981 and has survived through inertia and "jumping hosts" a couple times, rather than careful design.
I think the DSL is bad. And the matplotlib developers may agree, because while you can pass a combo like "ro--", you can also pass these parameters separately and more descriptively like
color='#f00', linestyle='dashed', marker=matplotlib.markers.CARETDOWNBASE

• Using deep learning to identify wildfire fuel load from satellite imagery.
• Running https://gpxz.io, a SaaS API for elevation data.
• Supply chain optimization, with a custom routing engine.
• Evaluation of flood simulation approaches to meet project goals.
• Visualisation of weather forecasts in a web app.
In addition to client work I also work as a Python security code reviewer for HackerOne.
Past clients include Pepsi, Mercedes-Benz, lob.com, and adept.ai
I work with remote sensing, routing, map visualization, natural hazard simulation, optimization, and data engineering. I most enjoy using PostGIS, GDAL, Maplibre & Mapbox, Python, QGIS.

import requests_cache
requests_cache.install_cache('dog_breed_scraping')
and responses will be stored into a local sqlite file.In English you can also form an adjective from the past participle ("this door is opened"). Using "opened" resolves the ambiguity in one direction only: when you want the adjective. But when you want the verb you'd have to add context: perhaps "tap to open".
Or if you prefer, is that the case for anywhere outside Boulder?
As well as giving true darkness, they also have much better sound and thermal insulation than curtains or blinds. I would love these on my apartment!

For carbon these costs look like increased healthcare due to pollution, decreased agricultural efficiency due to weather changes, government paying for environmental remediation or carbon capture, loss of tourism when the USA and Europe is covered in smoke for large parts of the summer, ski fields closing due to lack of snow.
Why can't we let the free market sort this out? More than most externalities, carbon pollution is expensive to reverse: CO2 that costs $10 to suck out of the air might only cost a company $1 to not emit in the first place.
There's also a time component: if there were no taxes or fees for dumping waste we'd have a really efficient decade in the stock market then all be dead by the end of the century.
Further, you could use the Reddit API to injest the full firehose of all site data in real time without violating rate limits. This is [one of the ways] how Pushift made their datasets.
Reddit was a lot more open that any other site approaching their size!
Even the court seems faultless here. It's not re-zoning their land, it's clarifying a law that already existed. The owner had an incorrect pre-ruling valuation.
This case is especially crazy cause the landowners sued the hunters: if they hadn't sued there wouldn't have been any damages, maybe they should sue themselves!
They were the only provider I could find to match my Hetzner SX64 specs for less than 2x the price.
But seeing as you asked, doormen hit some of the aspects of US culture I've struggled to adapt to as an immigrant of ~7 years including
* Disproportionate fear of violence. It seems like doormen largely play the role of a security guard which is nice to have "just in case", without balancing against the mental harm of constant fear and anxiety. Let alone spending that money and mental capacity on actual problems like vehicle collisions and loneliness.
* An OTT service industry. I don't want someone's fulltime job to be opening the door for me and being nice to me for tips, it makes life feel like a sales call. Ditto for hiring gardeners to leafblow your tiny lawn every week all through winter, and the server at a restaurant checking in on you every 10 minutes. It's much easier to have genuine interactions and relationships with people when they are doing a worthwhile job for a fair wage.
They’ll stop a stranger walking out with a package and keep an eye out for your abusive ex for you. They won’t remember you coming home late 6 years ago shortly after someone matching your description left an abortion clinic.
They’re also human not an unaccountable automated process. They’ll let you bring home a new fling 5 nights in the same month without registering them as a tenant, and let a non-corporate delivery driver drop off a package without being registered as a SurveillanceCorp approved deliverer.
The concept of doormen is dumb, but we don’t need to automate away every human interaction in our lives.
I'm not a lawyer, but it seems out of proportion to any damages sustained to Tile and likely unenforceable (not to mention uncollectable)?
(FWIW: I think ID verification is a good non-technical deterrent to what is largely a non-techincal problem!)
