It was an amazing social network in every way. It had great UX and minimal UI, it was fast, had power features but was still simple to use and the idea of lifestream meets social feed still makes perfect sense.
The community it gathered allowed me to jumpstart at my career at the age of ~14. I even discovered HN on FF. It’s been nearly 10 years after I first signed up and I still meet people IRL that I’ve followed on FF. It’s always like meeting your countrymen in a foreign country. We talk about the old country before Zuckerberg bought it.
For me, the timer is just there to remind me X minutes have passed. Losing track of time while doing something, anything feels natural to me. It happens in real life when I stumble upon a friend on the street and we start chatting and it happens in social media when I scroll too much.
If I'm reading something and my time is up, I just extend that and able to close the app afterward.
IIRC, the Parliament (Grand National Assembly of Turkey) gave Atatürk his "surname".
It might give more context to add his definition of "Turk" is similar to "American". Basically, it's about how you feel; if you feel like you're Turkish, you're Turkish. It's not tied to a specific race.
Teyit.org[0], the biggest fact-checking organization in Turkey, has their own archiving site called teyit.link[1].
It's a non-profit organization and they automatically archive any link that's sent to them via their site, Twitter, Facebook etc.. It's also usable by the public.
It's open source on GitHub[2] and we've actually been developing a new version[3] and have a plan to add `youtube-dl` along with WARC.
Well, you could say that the United States is run by a similar person. That does mean all of the U.S. is like that?
Istanbul does have a good intellectual atmosphere. Izmir too.
I'm not going to say it's all fine over here, but it's perfect for a digital nomad. Istanbul, especially places like Besiktas and Kadikoy are perfect.
I changed my number 3 years ago but I still keep my old number active because it occasionally gets calls or text from past contacts.
I'm Turkish and have been watching the news but I don't see any reason why someone correlates large websites being down with Turkey. With no explanation too.
Can you elaborate please? This is an honest question and I would like to know if my government is hacking foreign sites in retaliation for sanctions.
Eventually, though, they might want to allow an easy transition to VS Code in some way to cut redundancies but doing it too soon would anger too many people. Atom seems to be losing market share anyways.
If it's open in the background it's nearly instant to switch to it, unlike some other apps.
I'm not sure if this is common practice at least in Europe. I'm sure it's unheard-of in Turkey (and I've been lucky enough to make reservations for some high end and/or very popular restaurants).
May I ask in which countries you've experienced this in? I'm genuinely curious.
Mental health is no joke. She shouldn't had any access to any guns. To be fair though, I haven't read about how she acquired the gun.
A company that was founded by the government, even now partially owned by the government.
Interestingly, I don't get the Erdogan's message on my cell. My friends tried calling me last night to hear the message, they don't hear it when they call me either. Could be related to me using my networks -paid- call ring tone customising app.
I recently got hacked and lost my account and my first name username for good[0]. They don't even allow 2 factor auth on accounts with low followers there.

I've went into the Mission Control state and dragged the Neon app into a new screen. It was a pleasant full-screen experience with only the app full-screen and not an individual tab, which is what I expect from the full-screen mode.
Problem is when I tried it again, it didn't work. Not sure what's wrong but this is a newly released software so I'm sure they'll fix it.
Apart from that, it's really amazing. I especially LOVED the media control features.
edit: Got it now. Go into the full-screen mode when there no active tabs. Works perfectly after that.
