A roundabout is safer because one returns to actually paying attention to what other drivers are doing and activly evaluate what drivers are doing.

With auto lane and braking control etc one cease to pay proper attention.

basicplus2on Is an Aboriginal tale of an ancient volcano the oldest story ever told?

Their stories were essential for survival in finding food and their way across 1000's of miles of open land to different reaources. If they were wrong they would die.

I met and sat and talked with indiginous people in fitzroy crossing who walked in from Adelaide across the centre of Australian deserts by the use of their stories.

basicplus2on Actions needed to address cybersecurity risks facing the electric grid (2019) [pdf]

It is poor decision making putting power systems on the internet.

All power companies have end to end land access and already have scada etc physical links between all switchyards and can run their own microwave links where necessary so no need for ANY infrustructure to be accecible from the internet.

Its lazy cheap decision making.

"We fill our days with doing laundry, replacing our brake pads at the auto shop, or making a teeth-cleaning appointment with the dentist, in the expectation that everything will be fine.

But it won’t.

There will be a day that kills you or someone you love.

Such a perspective is actually quite comforting. Taken in that light, a craniotomy can be a relaxing experience, rather than one of abject terror."

basicplus2on Lab-grown food will soon destroy farming – and save the planet

food contains many trace elements and things we need that we dont fully understand.

Even slightly changing the natural feed of an animal we eat dramatically changes the quality and nutritional value.

thinking that you can so dramatically change the production (and only produce one part of a food - one of the proteins) all the other elements we need are lost.

It sounds like a recipe for malnutrition.
