bapetel··on Ask HN: Non-profit, volunteers run org needs CRM. Is Odoo Community a good sol.?
I'm an Odoo developer and here are my advices because the main issue with Odoo implementations are excessive customizations with no boundaries

1. Stay with Odoo Community but define the scope

CRM standard functionnality, no custom development : use standard configurations only to reduce technical dependency

If something is really needed as customization, check the OCA repositories

https://github.com/OCA/crm

OCA is Odoo Community Association

2. For office integration

Regarding emails, you can use Odoo's native mail connector, that is enough

For Docs use Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 and link in the CRM records, it's better

For Spreadsheets, you can use again OCA repo https://github.com/OCA/spreadsheet

3. For implementation with partner or consultant

Start with a fixed price package with clear deliverables and time (installation, configuration, data migration, training)

Then a fixed monthly maintenance contract

Train 2 volunteer as admin so that they can handle all admin related tasks

4. For hosting,

you can use a VPS with some docker stuff and automatic backup

https://github.com/OCA/server-tools/tree/18.0/auto_backup

bapetel··on How I should launch my project?
It's already online, then I consider it is launched Now, you can take your phone, check your contacts, and ask them to test it : maybe try it with some friends too Anyway, I think you have to communicate it

bapetel··on Import and Export Markdown in Google Docs
Good ! I use notion and sometimes when i copy a text from notion to docs, i have to format it again. Now i would not do it.
bapetel··on Tell HN: Please add a way for people to contact you in your profile
There's still a way to contact people who want to be contacted : they leave their website address or in any of their post, you may find something to get in contact with them.

Most of us don't want to be contacted on HN, we just want to discuss randomly in comments, that's it!

bapetel··on Ask HN: What's your successful or moderately successful side project?
I remember i have found this site by doing some research on Google, regarding enterprise creation in DE

Really nice website !

Can you tell us how you got the idea, when you started, are you enterprise or solo ? How do you manage taxes ? Are you german ?

These were the questions i was asking myself when i discovered your site

bapetel··on Ask HN: How can I learn about manufacturing?
I would recommend you to get started with installation of Odoo ERP software and then follow this tutorial : https://www.odoo.com/fr_FR/slides/mrp-manufacturing-shop-flo...

After that, you can try to apply what you learned : for example, buying some lego and do some manufacturing stuff, etc...

You can just learn by doing : try also to work on a manufacturing project

bapetel··on Ask HN: I'm curious to know why should we use jQuery now?
For fresh project, maybe it's better to use a modern tool
bapetel··on Ask HN: I'm curious to know why should we use jQuery now?
But if I work on legacy projects, I have to know JQuery
bapetel··on Ask HN: I'm curious to know why should we use jQuery now?

bapetel··on Ask HN: I'm curious to know why should we use jQuery now?

bapetel··on Show HN: Bernard – a link checker for your website
you're welcome
bapetel··on Show HN: Bernard – a link checker for your website
I just tested it and i like it : i have 46 broken links, certainly due to the latest changes i made. I know i would have the broken links specifically in the blog part, but was procrastinating to check them. GOD JOB, I LIKE IT

Now, regarding the pricing, i really don't like subscriptions, we already deal with a lot of subscriptions every month, but it's up to you.

I would suggest also to give ability to pay once for checking the links. So, when i come back maybe in 6 months later, i will again pay one, and so on, etc...

I would also like to download the link in an HTML page and consult them or do whatever stuff i like, for example, scrapping my own HTML to find broken link and do some action in development server or robot testing, but downloading shouldn't be free to

But it's nice, keep going and find your perfect market

bapetel··on Show HN: DoltgreSQL – Version-Controlled DB, Like Git and PostgreSQL had a baby
Question: what is the difference with database migration tools like alembic ?
bapetel··on Ask HN: How do you organize yourself as a solo founder
By categorizing, I understand :

- Marketing (content creation) - Sales (calls, email) - Tech (fix, improvements)

So having a to-do list for each week with these days would be good

bapetel··on Ask HN: How do you organize yourself as a solo founder
Sounds good So i think the only thing i have to add is a categorized todo list Thanks
bapetel··on Ask HN: If we make it open source, how do we monetize it?
I would say it depend on his strategy, for example he can provide enterprise solution that will bring money. An example is the popular ERP Odoo (odoo.com) that is fully open source and also provide some enterprise solution.
bapetel··on We Should Stop Using JavaScript According to Douglas Crockford
Yep, it will still be there. Google wanted to replace JS with Dart but they could'nt because i think JS is right now somehow like the base of web.
