bandhunt··on Democratizing Security
congrats guys!
bandhunt··on Ask HN: review my startup ironode.com (simple/automated security testing)
Thanks for the feedback. We'll add the google type confirmation in the future.
bandhunt··on Ask HN: review my startup ironode.com (simple/automated security testing)
Cool. Thanks for the feedback! I'll take a look in evolution.

That's just for now. We're manually running the scans to monitor the results as they come in. After our beta, scan results will be viewable in less than a day.
bandhunt··on Ask HN: website security app (sanity check)
That was one of my main concerns.

I'm hoping to provide a more comprehensive service that is also much easier to use and therefore add enough value to make it a pay service.

bandhunt··on Ask HN: website security app (sanity check)
Nice! Yeah, consulting stuff makes sense as an add-on down the road.

Email me (see my profile) and I'll give you free scans when I launch if you'd like.

bandhunt··on Ask HN: website security app (sanity check)
Cool. More on the application code side.

That's the plan. Thanks!

They don't go as in-depth at the application level.

Do you use any of other the other services?

bandhunt··on After 4 years of self-funded coding marathons I feel "finished", care to talk?
1. A mvp shouldn't take 8 months. You need to launch faster and you need to talk to your customers before, during and always. 2. TC doesn't matter much. I've received 2 posts and about 4000 visits for each post and only a handful of real users from those visits - you need a good product. 3. The initial idea doesn't matter that much. You probably won't start with the best idea. Iterate, iterate, iterate to the best product and idea.

It's not easy. Good luck!! Hope you stick with it.

bandhunt··on Ask HN: how do you decide when to quit, stick or pivot
Thanks!
bandhunt··on Ask HN: how do you decide when to quit, stick or pivot
Thanks! I have gone through a similar process.
bandhunt··on Ask HN: how do you decide when to quit, stick or pivot
haha, nice analogy! Yeah, the music industry has extra hurdles for sure.
bandhunt··on Ask HN: how do you decide when to quit, stick or pivot
I agree. Inspiration is a big factor. I have hard numbers based on 50K users of where I think this can go; I just struggle with not finishing things.

Good luck with your deal! Pandora took 10 years to be where it is, so it's obviously the right thing to do in some cases.

bandhunt··on Ask HN: What happens when your startup fails?
be careful trying to firesale assets. we spent 9 months selling our assets and the price we got and time involved was NOT worth it. we should've just walked and shut everything down as quickly as possible.
bandhunt··on The Future of Web Apps - Single Page Applications
You can see an example of this using the sweet happyworm player here: http://www.isound.com
bandhunt··on You should blog even if you have no readers
Anyone want to argue why you should NOT blog? I'm debating starting to blog, but as a startup founder I'd rather put every minute into improving my company - or is writing a blog going to improve my company? Thoughts?
bandhunt··on Ask YC: Large inexpensive wall mount computer displays?
Dynex at bestbuy 42" is around $500. It's got a vga and hdmi. Works nicely with my computer.
bandhunt··on Please review the iSound.com beta - (Pandora for new music)
Actually no. Most everything else. You having a lot of trouble in opera?
bandhunt··on Please review the iSound.com beta - (Pandora for new music)

bandhunt··on Please review the iSound.com beta - (Pandora for new music)
Thanks! Yeah, I think the wording is a little clumsy (even for native speakers). Haven't nailed down those details yet.
bandhunt··on Please review the iSound.com beta - (Pandora for new music)
I'll look into this. thanks!
bandhunt··on Please review the iSound.com beta - (Pandora for new music)
hahaha. I tend to enjoy his stuff. but noted
bandhunt··on Please review the iSound.com beta - (Pandora for new music)
Yeah, we need to error out the file size better. Also, we'll be adding genre tagging in the future as it's almost impossible to keep up with every genre ;). Thanks!
bandhunt··on Please review the iSound.com beta - (Pandora for new music)
Thanks!! Yes, that will go away and they definitely aren't being stored in plain text.
bandhunt··on Please review the iSound.com beta - (Pandora for new music)
Thank you!! These are on the list of fixes.
bandhunt··on Please review the iSound.com beta - (Pandora for new music)
I was trying to incite some passion. Following what Jeff Atwood says about "picking an enemy" (eg stackoverflow's enemy is experts-exchange). Maybe it's in bad taste to list that in the about though.
bandhunt··on Please review the iSound.com beta - (Pandora for new music)
Yeah, definitely agree. We'll be working very hard on that over the coming months.
bandhunt··on Please review the iSound.com beta - (Pandora for new music)
thank you!
