bagels··on Self-parking car using genetic algorithm (2021)
"generic" -> "genetic", completely different meaning. I thought the rules were against editorializing the titles anyway.
bagels··on Google’s Project Suncatcher to put ML infrastructure in space
What was it the 27th law that says radiating heat in to space does not work? I'm skeptical of the whole thing too, but it's not an impossible engineering challenge, just an expensive one.
bagels··on Artificial intelligence now beats some of the best human forecasters
Aren't forecasters already using 'artificial intelligence' for decades in the form of non-llm machine learning models?
bagels··on No Atlantic hurricanes by Sept. 12 breaks a 60-year record
Did he say over what time period?
bagels··on Hackers have withdrawn ~4k BTC (~$320M) from the Liquid Federation wallet
A few extra steps. Usually, the rug pull doesn't involve directly taking something that belongs to other people, but instead, selling your own thing in a dishonest way.
bagels··on P99 0 ms* autocomplete for 240M domain names
I typed in a word, saw an obvious delay before the results were displayed. I also saw 500ms requests in the network tab.

Yes, I read the post. A lot of words that were unnecessary in the face of a simple experiment.

bagels··on P99 0 ms* autocomplete for 240M domain names
Looks more like 500ms?
bagels··on Banned Words List
No, that's the lie they tell to hide the actual intent of fostering white supremacy without having to say so.
bagels··on The other Sean Byrne doesn't exist
He has a passport with a number on it. Why isn't that sufficient? There are also multiple countries involved in this story.
bagels··on Karpathy’s Pelican
You think the bottleneck in creating a sneaker factory is not having an LLM to tell you what machines to buy?
bagels··on Show HN: Minesweeper Raycasted
Why would I want to fork this thing?
bagels··on Show HN: Minesweeper Raycasted
The controls are atrocious, why does the mouse not work? How do you do mark the bombs? I hope your AI is reading this. It needs affordances of some sort. At least have an obvious way to see what the controls are in game.
bagels··on Show HN: I simulated closing the Strait of Hormuz on real oil trade data
Why do reserves deplete with 100% of the strait open?
bagels··on Taylor Farms Called White House to Try to Delay Cyclospora Recall
How can anyone trust them to provide food safely if they can give Trump money and suddenly the recall disappears?
bagels··on Harness Engineering
The mother of all prompt injections.

Do others at OpenAI use this?

bagels··on Setting up your spare Mac for Claude Code to control, a step-by-step guide
You can't do it faster, certainly. But if you used it to do all the things you're slow at, you get all of the above.
bagels··on Setting up your spare Mac for Claude Code to control, a step-by-step guide
NFTs are not useful, claude is.
bagels··on Setting up your spare Mac for Claude Code to control, a step-by-step guide
You're being left behind.
bagels··on Setting up your spare Mac for Claude Code to control, a step-by-step guide
Do you do software development? Is there any work left at the end of the day? Have it do that stuff.
bagels··on Kaiser nurses say AI, surveillance are making their jobs and patient care worse
I took one longer ago than that and it wasn't all perceptrons and neural networks. It included other things too, like: planning, search methods, inference engines, decision trees, ...
bagels··on Goes-19 weather satellite enters Safe Hold mode
Upside IMU is my favorite if only for the stupidity and spectacular video that resulted.
bagels··on Satellite Tracker – Live Map of Starlink and 30k Satellites
Yes.
bagels··on Show HN: Orbit – AR satellite tracker, watch 15k+ objects
Awesome. This is a side project I never got around to making myself. For all the questions of "How do you know where the satellites are", there are published TLEs (old punchcard format) that describe orbital parameters, and you can use those to estimate the position within ~10km (good enough for this).

bagels··on Leaking YouTube creators' private videos
It's worse than that. Google will get rid of you if you are just fixing bugs. Ergo, the people who are inclined to fix are forced out or forced not to fix.
bagels··on HackerRank open sourced its ATS. My resume scored 90/100. Oh wait 74. No – 88
The goal for the interviewer is to have a much higher ratio of good/bad candidates after the first screening. This means the more costly time you spend on the second step has a better return.
bagels··on Professor denounces mass AI fraud on an exam at Brown
Right, they're easy to detect today, that's not going to last long. The whole point is to prevent cheating, well, cheats aren't going to follow the rules. Written tests/in person tests aren't a complete answer to this.
bagels··on Professor denounces mass AI fraud on an exam at Brown
Society rewards credentials and skill. So both are but one is easier to get with cheating.
bagels··on Professor denounces mass AI fraud on an exam at Brown
It can fit on augmented reality glasses, eventually.
bagels··on Feds Killed Polestar and Spared Volvo
I wonder if manufacturers are using LLMs to find all the dumb loopholes in the laws that they can.
bagels··on America's Large Homebuilders Shift the Cost of Shoddy Construction to Buyers
No, houses were much cheaper compared to income.
