badboy··on Deploying at GitHub
Github itself is a Github project, therefore using anything other than the API would be some code duplication. Merging, Pull-Requests, Branches, Issues: all this is already covered when using the normal API.

I'm sure it could be "more efficient" when having code explicitely for this purpose, but then again you have to maintain to different code bases which do the same.

badboy··on Linux Commands for Developers
Wrap it in $() to execute. And even if you pipe it into a file, no chmod is required. "sh file" works as it should
badboy··on Solving Different Problems
Besides that it's a shame that the option to just get the stream running in VLC is such a hassle (with VLC I get much lower CPU usage + the ability to freely move and resize the video and place it somewhere on my second screen, even fullscreen)
badboy··on Captchas Are Becoming Ridiculous
Atleast the archlinux.org forum has the geekiest "Captcha"-system I came across so far:

What is the output of "date -u +%W$(uname)|sha256sum|sed 's/\W//g'"?
(This is not to prevent bots, but to prevent human spammers)
badboy··on [dead]
Oh sorry. Came across this story today and didn't check the post for a correct date.
badboy··on XBMC For Android
Yeah, "leaked" is quite a statement here. The full source code is on github. Should be clear that someone will post a debug build of that, right?
badboy··on Cool hack to take a photo of yourself on every commit
Just change the current working directory in the script before running the task. No need to move them then.
badboy··on Greplin becomes Cue - Intelligent "Snapshot" of your Day
Atleast I can login to "old" greplin when using https://www.cueup.com/auth#login_
badboy··on Ask HN: How do you learn to develop exploits?
I'm currently reading it. It gives a rather basic C introduction (I skipped it) but then it goes into explaining how to inject shell codes, using buffer overflows and getting deep into the assembly of programs. It's definitely great for a start.
badboy··on The Web only Works Thanks to Reload… (and why the mobile web fails)
The site is not responding, so I can't read the article and there's nothing in the google cache for now.
badboy··on The Web only Works Thanks to Reload… (and why the mobile web fails)
Too bad the site seems down. Anyone here with a copy of the article?
badboy··on NoSQL – Back to the Future or Yet Another DB Feature?
I learned today that for data analysis they still stick with SQL (and some fancy MapReduce stuff underneath)
badboy··on NoSQL – Back to the Future or Yet Another DB Feature?
What is "unreal" about current NoSQL Databases?
badboy··on Hacker Typer
Your code breaks for me when the "hacker-typed" text reaches an UTF-8 symbol (← for example)
badboy··on Spotify launches iPad app
Does it work for free users yet? Last time I tried it didn't. I would like to test their service before I pay them.
badboy··on Show HN: Beatbar - Media player that beats in the browser address bar
Awesome work. Just do me one favour: Add "return false" to the function bound to "space", otherwise the page scrolls when I hit it to pause.
badboy··on Zerg Rush Google Easter Egg
Not too much time but fun spending their time on things like that.
badboy··on Ask HN: Did you switch from Dropbox to Google Drive?
Nope, no switch. Dropbox free user with 12Gb of space.
badboy··on Domain Names Aren't Irrelevant, But They May Just Become So
Wow, they have a huge, annoying flash video on the bottom left. Good that I use FlashBlock.
badboy··on Show HN: Tasskr. Re-written for the 5th time.
+1 for undo option. I find undo always better than confirming deletion.
badboy··on Chrome 19 doesn't respect basic auth details embedded in the URL
That's not only the case for media files but for everything you try to download via the included download manager. And that sucks pretty much.
badboy··on Chrome 19 doesn't respect basic auth details embedded in the URL
Wow, BasicAuth is quite unusable these days. Disallowing BasicAuth in typed-in urls is just one side. The other thing is that I can't use BasicAuth to download files on Android[1] (and that bug is 4 years old)

badboy··on Github is making me feel stupid(er)
It's not. It's just a simple Ruby server script. Works just fine on *nix machines.
badboy··on Getting Things Done For Hackers
Wow. I really like the concept but I'm missing some more features for my own use.

Is it open source? That would be great to hack on it. Or does it atleast have an API? That way I could script some more functionality.

badboy··on Interesting Church Site in pure HTML
HTML is just a markup language. How it is displayed relies on other factors (and that is where CSS comes in)
badboy··on PHP-Snow - A concise, dry and beautiful language that compiles to PHP
pri is used first for the constructor (right after class SumTable) but not followed by any name. I find it quite hard to read this way.
badboy··on PHP-Snow - A concise, dry and beautiful language that compiles to PHP
Speaking of readability: Just `pri` as the constructor? When having just a quick glance at code I want to know which part does what. Function names help, even if it is __construct.

And the @str title=null line above the class seems very odd.

badboy··on Rob Reid: The $8 billion iPod
I really laughed watching this video.

Too bad the content industry does not get it.

badboy··on Arch Linux turns 10
3 machines running on Arch Linux and no major issues up to now.

It's just perfect for me. I love how easy it is to quickly build a new package (not that I need to write PKGBUILDS myself often, most things are available in the AUR)

Happy Birthday!

badboy··on Codakido, Lua/SDL programming environment for Kids, with C64-alike editor
I really like the idea and the code is just great. I had fun by just reading the C code and experimenting a bit.

Now that the editor is included it's even more awesome :)
