babelfish··on CS240 AI Cheating Retrospective
This is the professor who had beef with a /middle schooler/ for copying some content on how to use a calculator from his website. His defensive attitude is clearly indicative of the massive, massive chip on his shoulder. Just reading this triggered me to my experience with similar professors in college about a decade ago. What a jackass
babelfish··on America.gov goes crazy on "play Minecraft"
Lots of this reads as if it's riffing on Minecraft's End Poem https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/End_Poem
babelfish··on Gemini 4 Argon
> We’ll continue to gather feedback from early testers as we iterate on guardrails before making Argon available to developers, enterprises, and consumers as soon as possible.

Gemini not beating the "can't release a model" allegations

babelfish··on ChatGPT Pro 500
Yes that's their new ultrafast tier which is only available on this plan
babelfish··on MongoDB CEO resigns to join Meta
no chance, will definitely be Mosseri, Mark is not handing the reigns to an enterprise guy
babelfish··on Grok 4.7
They have Astra in other benchmarks lower on the page. They just don't want to show it winning
babelfish··on Grok 4.7
this is exactly it.

babelfish··on Show HN: Craigslist for agent skills, curated by a human

babelfish··on LRU is harder to beat than the KV-cache papers suggest
you can just ask it to explain those things!
babelfish··on ChatGPT Pro 20x plan is now unavailable for purchase

babelfish··on OpenAI fought dirty on career-making math problem
Every sentence in this comment is incorrect
babelfish··on Formalizing Fermat's Last Theorem
A human definitely didn't, but one of the benefits of formal verification is that even if the work done to achieve something is slop-y or excessively verbose, solvers like Lean guarantee that the initial proposition (assuming it was written correctly and in this case was definitely reviewed by humans) is definitively True. This is true across other domains of formal verification outside of math as well
babelfish··on ChatGPT outage – Resolved
must be fixed already?
babelfish··on Dwarf Fortress is getting the mother of all magic updates
Adding a G to the UI is 'giving the finger' to their old players? When they include support for ASCII-like tilesets so you can play the exact same way? "Gamers" are the most entitled people on earth, I swear

babelfish··on Field measurements of neighborhood-scale air temperature impacts of data centers
Totally agree that it's just a proxy for people's feelings on AI, but my Lobster Jesus is much more important to me than a Netflix show! All of the datacenter usage (for inference) is just serving something people want. Time has already shown that the datacenter for training is also just creating something people want.
babelfish··on Ask HN: Alternatives to GitHub
The link provided shows "Uptime (336 hours): 98.76%". That's one nine of uptime for fourteen days.

babelfish··on Grok 4.6
Are you able to differentiate between sex and gender, or is any nuance too complicated for you? Maybe Grok can explain it!
babelfish··on Grok 4.6
Yes, and reality (+ biology) show that trans people have been around as long as humans have. They are a biological reality. Reality has a left-wing bias.
babelfish··on Grok 4.6
This is just an anti-trans dogwhistle
babelfish··on Grok 4.6
Didn't need to! The harness just uploads your repository to their blob storage directly. Cheaper than asking the LLM to do it
babelfish··on The hardest working font in Manhattan (2025)
Cool to flip through their master copy typeface reference: https://archive.org/details/gorton-master-copy-type-for-all-...
babelfish··on AI Mania: From Tulips to Tokens
you are welcome to invest in tulips!
babelfish··on AI Mania: From Tulips to Tokens
tulips do not have intelligence, tokens do
babelfish··on Zitron: The Subprime Datacenter Crisis
I don't think Zitron will ever admit he's been wrong about LLMs
babelfish··on Show HN: I RL-trained an agent that trains models with RL (for ~$1.3k)
I think you are putting more effort into arguing it’s not worth it to read the link, than just reading the link would take. I am not sure what you think your comments are accomplishing, they are not useful, just pedantic
